One more step forward in Michigan
The medical marijuana proposed law in Michigan took another step forward.
The time frame to challange petition signatures has expired. No one tried to challange them. Next step will be the November ballot. Unless the lawmakers step forward and pass the law before the voters do. Keep on marching .. |

MMJ in michigan would be a miracle. I cant afford to move out west, but I would love to grow legally... and I only live about an hour from michigan. I really hope this one works out.
also, heres the exact wording: https://stoparrestingpatients.org/initiative.html

Nice step, but too bad the list of treatable symptoms is so limited.
Even minor aches and pains can be helped with cannabis. |

even if MI is strict about handing out medical cards, I could get a card in another state and still be protected:

Great news! Earlier today, the Michigan Board of Canvassers officially
certified that MCCC collected enough signatures to transmit the medical marijuana initiative to the Michigan Legislature. The 496,000 signatures officially counted by the state came back with a 75.3% validity rate, far exceeding what was needed to qualify. Such a high validity rate is testament to the diligence of our petition team, whose exacting attention to detail ensured we would survive any eventuality. And, of course, none of this would've been possible without dedicated petitioners pounding the pavement and doing the heavy lifting throughout the state. Thank all of you again. The initiative will now be transmitted to the legislature, which has 45 days to either pass it into law or send it to voters in November. Because the legislature has considered multiple medical marijuana bills in recent years and none have ever gained traction, Michiganders - who support protecting patients from arrest by nearly a 2 to 1 margin - are all but certain to vote on the issue at the polls later this year. The official word that we have gathered enough signatures to send the initiative to voters in November culminates a historic, monumental effort. Thanks to your hard work, we are one step closer to making Michigan the first medical marijuana state in the Midwest. And patients all across the state are one enormous step closer to alleviating their pain without the fear of arrest and jail. However, we are not there yet. Although we have cleared a significant hurdle, it was expensive to get to this point. On the cusp of a major campaign, anything you can donate today will tremendously increase our ability to compete. Please visit https://StopArrestingPatients.org/donate.html to move us forward! It's important to note that we were only able to qualify the initiative for the ballot, on time and under budget, with the generous volunteer help of supporters like yourself. And now, with the next phase of the campaign about to begin, we will need this help more than ever, so please get involved today by visiting https://stoparrestingpatients.org/volunteer.html ! Sincerely, Scott Klein Campaign Manager Michigan Coalition for Compassionate Care 313-452-8339 P.O. Box 20489 Ferndale, MI 48220 Scott@StopArrestingPatients.or g |

FINALLY! I'm glad to hear the Mitten will finally let its voters decide for themselves, since the Administration and Legislature will never take action on this issue.
