I know you just posted this in the incorrect forum, HOWEVER your post deserves an answer:

Recent press has indicated that HD-DVD is getting flushed in favor of Blu-ray.

The decision was apparently made due to pressure being put on the manufacturers of the actual discs......apparently Blu-ray has made exclusive deals with practically every major studio starting 2008/2009.

The studios were indicating that not only has the confusion been bad for consumers wanting to purchase one of the players, but even conventional DVD sales were down because "everyone was waiting to see the new standard". Resultingly, sales for Blu-ray, HD-DVD, and standard DVD all were sucking badly.

Looks like Blu-Ray is going to be coming on strong.
