Chemdawg DoubleD Smoke/Grow Report

Heres the report on:
Chemdawg Double D
(Chemdawg "plant D" x Sour Diesel IBL)
Reservior Seeds

well she was.......

taken at day 65. (expect them to take 70-80+days, this was slightly early)
was about 2oz dry.
50day veg (took 49 days to show fem pre's)
5gal pot
600W MH veg/600Whps flower.

Fimmed 5th node. and let er go. that was it.
formed this nice trident type overall shape.
expect a very healthy stretch, as well. 12-18" seedling can top 3-4 feet, easy, without a top/training, which this plant doesnt seem to mind. takes top/fim/scrog trainings like a champ.
FFOF
earth juice g/b
metaK

germ rate. 1/1 (test run)
1 verrry sexy female.......

wanna see???

the flush commences....

dried and ready for the cure........
pics really dont do it justice....

SMOKE REPORT: (real time)

strain in review:
Reservior Seeds
"Chemdawg Double D"
(Chemdawg D x Sour Diesel IBL)

approx .3g sample.

Upon first glance of a YET to be CURED sample.....
reminds me of that typical sour diesel LOOK. those pinkish, melony colored hairs on top of airy, frosty-white nugs. first glance, you know its special grass.
bag appeal a SOLID 9. smell and look of kindness both present.

Taking in the aroma........
Grabbing the small, dried, but yet uncured, sample, and placing it under the nose and giving it a gentle squeeze......
bud has a semi firm texture. just the right amount of give with a slight crackle when squeezed. (ready for the jar)
upon the squeeze, you are IMMEDIATELY hit with a dank shot of chemical, mentholated goodness. quite hard to fully describe, but id say it leans more to the chemmy smell with a sour edge, if that helps at all. im not the best in judging smells but this stuff is very special indeed...........

placing the .3g sample(bout the size of a US dime) into my trusty lil "merlin" style chubbler.....
and applying the flame.....

glancing at the sample that is about to meet its maker, you are greeted by a wonderful world of sparkling, snow white THC glands, or "crystals.: this pot is simply covered with it. sitting in a freshly cleaned bowl, with fresh water, she looks RIGHT at home. looks "white" from a distance, while sitting in eager anticipation........

as the lighter draws closer, the glands seem to shimmer and shine with anticipation of its final act of caregiving.
the lighters flame approaches.....
and draws close.....all the while you are fixated on the plethora of THC that dresses this gear.

the melony, pinkish hued hairs erupt into shiny orange tendrils as the flame makes contact with the flower cluster itself and quickly turn to ash on their glowing way down to meet the loosely stacked, but well adorned calyxs.

flame meets bud............

smoke meets lungs......

as the orange glow dances its way around the sample, eventually rendering it into a smaller, grey version of its prior self..........
you draw the hit in.
immediately you feel SOMETHING working but your not sure where it emminates.....
hold the hit for a second and release it. exhaling thru the nasal cavity.........
a downright greasy/ chemmy greets the smoker upon exhale...... very strong and very pronounced......
the strong flavor simply sticks to the nasal cavity and the tongue as you start to notice the buzz tapping you on your shoulder to introduce itself.
"hi there," the buzz says.
i say.

it starts with a gentle muscle unwinding......
and a light headed, gentle, "floaty head" feel.
top eyelids seem to be injected with novicaine and start to slightly sag.
perma-grin feels like it wants to set in but it needs a bit more of a sample to make itself at home.
as the initial effects make its way around my body the different effects are slowly noticed. different nuances, if you will.
you get that intial muscle relaxation, which isnt very prolonged, but IS noticable.....then it goes to work in the brain housing group.
lightening your mental load if you will. eyes feel slightly "saggy" and a sort of "blaise blah" attitude succumbs the inhlaer. you just dont really seem to care about much around you.

as i settle in and start to enjoy the different little nuances of the buzz, i notice that chemical taste has not left my nasal cavity OR my tongue. STUCK to BOTH of em still. (approx 3.5mins, i guess. no drink, no cig)
very strong flavored smoke. it lingers nicely, as well.......

ok. now the hard part.

overall, from grow to glow. this pot gets good marks from ME. mileage, of course will vary.

Final report. scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most extreme side of things.

Chemdawg Double D

Appearance: 9.5 who wouldnt like grass that looks like that?
Bag Appeal: 9 due to the airy consistiency of the flowers, weighed samples look much larger than they are. a 1g sample looks like 2g at first glance.......
smell. 8.5. the only thing NOT giving it a 9.....people who like the fruity types of flavors prolly wouldnt like the taste of this gear. probably downright offensive to a blueberry "pot snob" whom smokes nothing else. so, in the overall scheme of things, smell gets an 8.5.....its fuuunnkkyy!
Ease of Growth: 7 (looong time to show sex(49days), and slow intial vegger, but other than that..smooth sailin. very easy, organically and NO signs of nanners. none at all. surprised me, too. but there are documented reports of them.....expect to see the majority of phenos to finish around 70-80+days....) 12/12 from seed/SOG/ScrOG she'll do it all.
Taste: 8.5 (fruity and sweet lovers need not apply)i personally LOVE tha flavor. VERY chemmy with a bit of a sour/skunky/funky edge. just like the smell. /carries over well into the taste/
High: 9 (strong pot. highly recommended)
Effects: 8.5 (very fun to let it take you over and try to follow it around your body. does nice things to a person. recommended for stress relief, anti anxiety, or a nice gentle after work to "unwind and have a cocktail" smoke.
Longevity (of taste) : 9. taste was in nasal cavity until i smoked a cig 5 mins later. was on the tongue as well. had a glass of "ecto cooler" kool-aid just before the smoke.....and WOW....that...was...awesome!! might wanna have a nice glass of something you enjoy on hand. cottonmouth gets ya with this one and the bud seems to enhance the taste senses in a way.....very cool and unique.
Yields: 9. this plant, when dialed to your specific regime..can yield copious amounts of finished flowers of high quality, top shelf meds.
Longevity (of effects): 8.5. this will get one where they need to be quickly and will letcha hang around for a lil while.....3g sample...45-60mins.

overall this, in my view, was very easy pot to grow and almost GREAT pot to smoke. truly. and ive been around the track a time or two.
the ONLY thing about the grow i disliked was slow intial veg and it took 49 days to show definitively she was female. longest in my garden this rotation.....i can live with that and one who would grow this should look into keeping cuts. this makes a slightly quicker finish and slightly better yields from being dialed in.
when keeping cuts, one would look for the specimens that exhibit vigor, and have healthy happy green leafs. shouldnt be too hard to find that, here.
clones and roots pretty easy, depending on ones methods and experience. .......i, cut, stick in dirt, and look at roots 14 days later. slow, but effective.

Chemdawg Double D
Overall Rating:

9.00
. solid. stands out in even the most well adorned rooms.
not everyone will be a fan simply because of the taste is so pronounced, but everyone will LOVE the LOOK and EFFECTS.

Solid Pot
i could whole heartedly recommend to anyone.

hope you all enjoyed it. honest and unbiased report.

comments?

*******EDIT*******

report on F2s begins at post #124 on page #9
if anyone is interested in an F2 grow of the double dee.

********EDIT #2*****
overall report slightly revised to reflect the same strain after a years work.
basically, i streamlined the report and updated it to reflect my progress and familiararity with DD....

Very nice report,I don't see nearly enough of these.
Did you clone her?
If so,I bet those review numbers pop up several tenths after another run.
Imo plants grown the first time,from-seed,aren't (usually) genetically mature when forced to flower, and they don't do as well as successive generations.
Anyhow, that's a swell report, thanks for taking the time to grow the seeds and write such a thoughtful missive.

Cheers!

i concur 100% Rez . some plants i v grown from seed wouldv e been tossed if selection was based on the initial seed run . now i prefer to keep the seed plants as a mum , bonsai style . and make my selections based on the performance of the clones.

hiya Rez.....

nah, this one lil girl was from seed. which by no means gives one an overall description of the strain, but i feel its a good report of what can be found, or a good general idea on what to expect from her......

i did, indeed, take a few cuts from her, tho........
....... which are alive and well and have a prolonged veg period in store for them......

i, too, believe the numbers could go up, when using cuts, as well. 2 months to wait for sex, from seed, is a bit of a wait, but, once one gets a cut and works that, i agree, the overall score can rise a bit.(might actually score a very nice 9 which i rarely give out... and 10s are almost unheard of....im a tough critic) .........like stated, one of the only drawbacks was the long wait for the sexing.

im glad i picked this strain up. even though it is MUCH cheaper now than when i got it.....(dammit. hahahahahaa)
but it was worth it. shes not leaving anytime soon, and, quite honestly, its the first seed run im looking forward to doing in some time.....
tks for making her available Rez. this stuff is going to make alot of people much happier and feel alot better.

and thks, everyone, for the kind words.
more reports in the works.....

be good to one and all.

Hey, REZ

So, I've finished up around ten different rez strains from seed, and among them I had three females of Chemdog DD. The pheno pictured here, was a shorter of the three and a wider plant, the fan leaves blackened to a deep purple but the flowers themselves didn't really take on the darkness, But has a great chemmy/sd smell that coats the mouth like a Halls liquid filled cough drop!!

The other pheno of DD seemed to be more columnar and kept an army green and had a yellowing of leaves at peak ripeness with no tints of purple at all(more sd dom, i'm guessing...). It smokes nice too!

I've got a petrol plant i finished as well, it was nice and calyxey, but really lacked the intense smell and flavor I was craving...
Finished two phenos of D39, and some G13-Diesel from H3adseeds!! The g13-diesel turned a nice dark color, of course the cold helped but still half of the plants didn't purple at all. Finished two Gonzo#2 which flowered for 80 days and still weren't that great....Got a wonder diesel too that is ripening, a diesel kush, and more D39's and then the lovely freebies NYCD x CJ and ECSD x CJ, I'll post more pics of them all if i get around to it.

Here's the chemdog dom. DD pic, before I smoke it all!!

Rez this comment has gotten me thinking in the shower (and everywhere else) and I would really appreciate some clarification. I have read from others that cannabis plants seem to improve after the first (clone) generation. You mention that it is because they usually aren't genetically mature when forced to flower. Greg Green (cannabis grow bible) warns of flowering plants before they are sexually mature... i.e. before they have shown preflowers. The reason I mention this is that it seems odd to me that a plant would be "genetically immature"... that there is a latency in full expression of the genome except for the obvious case of sexual maturity.

My question: Are you referring to sexual maturity? ( I am no botanist.. perhaps sexual/genetic maturity means the same thing botanically speaking). Any elaboration or theories you might have as to why clones end up more potent than the plants from seed?

I just have to say that if you love IBL diesel you'll love the double d.It is far and above the rudest ,stankiest, obnoxious herb you will see.The cuttings veg faster than the seedlings and finish a bit faster too.Every single person I've fired it up with is floored.I have 2 cuts whose parents were grown in organic soil mix then the cuts were transferred to hydro and I am so damned impressed with the growth rate and yield and taste , nevermind the potency that's up to you, but I just had to say it.Rez ain't a breeder eh?Thoreau died at 42 with a lifes work comprable to any.Sorry if I sound too enthusiastic but hey that's what we're here for , to pass on our best thoughts and observations.MUCHA loves the double d!!!PEACE!!!

Well, most growers veg 'em a month or so,to the 'required height' or other Grower-Spec (based, oops,on clones) then flower 'em. That's NOT Genetically Mature,by any stretch,by Nature,or not, period.
So....let 'em run a second cycle,from seed,before you cull,or not.
It's saved some Killer Clone Moms for me,that's for sure.

Cheers!
