Texas Twister
Have most of Annacs seeds and this was literally drawn at random as could not decide.
Ten out of ten popped as usual and at 16 days from seed they are healthy but leaves could be taken for blueberry and a touch freaky. Have just been sprayed with floramite so not looking their best and mites have been nibbling bits here and there. Since potted on will expect to flower in around six weeks once sexed and clones are established. Sparobis has a fine thread on this cross and am hopeing for a similar range of types , should be easy to compare pics as we both grow in soil. |

Cheers !
Useing the same batch of seed compo i mixed up a dozen packets ago and none showed this leaf shape apart from Sassyfrass which has blueberry in it. If had not popped and planted these myself would swear they were blueberry or a cross of it. Very healthy and will probably grow out of it. Will be cloneing all femmes so should have some nice bushy plants in around a month or so. Cant let them spread very much and four colas and a square foot is the most they will get first run , best gets an outdoor run next year and lots of growers if its any good. If its as good as the UBF the hardest part will be choosing the keeper. |

And then there were none.......
For only the second time in twenty years all ten ended up male. All healthy bushy plants but have no space or need for a male at this time and it was a shame to cull them. Had no complaint when i had all females so not bothered as its a lottery at best and not the breeders responsibility past germination which was 100%. Next up is the Biko sat or the Hidoll and i hope for a couple of males for an incross esp with the Hidoll. |

the only way you would end up with all males is due to the growing conditions,
all seeds (except femanized) have both male an female genes, it is external factors which determine the sex, sex isnt determined till the 3 to 5 week of the seedlings life. hints to remember less light time, 14 to 15 hours of light per day will give higher ratio of females more light 16 to 24 hours will giver more males higher nitrates will ensure more females, but you shouldnt feed till 3rd to 4th week and only use high nitrate non burning fish emulsions. more blue light will also ensure more females to male ratio, T8 and/or T5 floros with color temps of 6500 will enure high percent females. and temps, 80 to 85 degreee F is ideal for more females, temps pushin 90 or above will definately give you all males. |

Cheers Annac , good to see you back and hope all is well.
Been vegging in the same room , compost and temp/humidity for 20+ years and starting a pack every two weeks for the last ten so i have a lot of data in hand written form. The only change has been in the lighting , from mercury vapour to T12,s , halides , T8,s , CFL,s and now Purple Nuturelights. My average is 60% over a large sample and includes random 100% swings in both directions from near 100% germination. Apart from the usual suspects have had very few hermies with normal seed and the plants before and after these were 7/12 and 6/10 females. Sparobis had 7/7 females so it really is the luck of the draw as i see it. These were vegged from breaking soil under 70 watts/foot of purple spectrum. 19/24 light cycle in an ocupied bedroom , temps a steady 70 f and 50% humidity . John Innes soil based compost with no additional feed till flower. Quote:
Will change some factors over the next few months esp the light hours to see if theres owt in it. My only concern is that if an undecided plant is easily persuaded to show female it may more readily change its mind later on in an average growroom. Just popped ten Biko sativa pheno and will start a thread when theres something worth a view. |

I actually open this thread in hopes of seeing atexas twister grow. start to finish. I have a number of annaC beans in my collection and was looking thru them all and tryin to decide what beans should I pop next, I ended up poping the daryl hunt beans, pretty good germ rate 6 out 6 popped. I always save few bean just incase somethign happens and need to germ a few more.
looking forward to seeing how you make out with the Biko sativa pheno beans |
