Hi! I must say i look up to you Soma, you are a great breeder and a very experienced grower. I bought your book, organic marijuana soma style, and it is very good indeed.
I can see that you also have a philosophy for growing "the sacred herb" how you call it.
However, there is one thing that is very strange to me: how can you use guano?
I must say that everybody says that guano is the shit, the best thing to feed your plants (organically).

I believe those people, but i don't use it. I mean, come on, that's bat shit mined in third world countries. Those people are pennyless, they don't mind wrecking a bat cave and evicting a few bats to support their family (who wouldn't?), but they are mining it for the rich people who buy it in rich countries.

Guano is an environmental catastrophe. You can say that the people who mine it are being watch by local environment groups, but remember, poorer countries are plagued by corruption.

Don't take this as a personal attack, i'm just curious since you are a tree-hugger (like me). As i said above, i look up to you!

Guano is a great, safe, and organic way of supplying your plants with nitrogen. Also cleaning up bat poo isn't all that bad for the environment now come on..... It's not like they are going into the caves and harming them! They just go in and collect the poop... I've used organic nutes my whole plant growing life that contain guano and have never been dissatisfied! Its good to see people like yourself concerned about the environment however...... Take care

ahhhh, yeah.... what funkynuggets said....... the whole point of bat guano is that it is aged and very decomposed poop of fruit bats that eat a myriad of tropical fruits. So, Careta, Do you think the Hard working kind and irie Jamaicans who gather bat guano from the centuries old deposits near san san beach are doing harm by cleaning up the poop of some bats that has been sitting there for centuries decomposing? At least Jamaicans are growing their own food... the spoiled fruit bats just eat fruits from the garden of eden all day. So I suppose next you should go after these bats for stealing the placenta's from tropical tree seeds. I think maybe you should relax the tree hugger gig especially regarding soma and try to grow some plants as nice as his. This is the best way to thank the bats for their poop.
I love hugging trees as much as the next person, and the truth in what you are suggesting is relating to the mass/marketing profiting off of a cave that belongs to our planet. I can only say that in this modern day and age of taxes, and big gov't, it is my person belief that the Guano is an awesome, low-impact, sustainable way to subsidize third world economy, make more air and trees for the bats and then earth is happy.
If you still don't want to "steal" poop from bat caves, try eating shit loads of papaya and random tropical berries untill your bowels are clean and then age your shit for a few centuries. Otherwise the guano is probably your best option. Just kidding!

For all, if you believe that collecting their poop in the caves they live in doesn't make a difference, then sorry, either you don't have a clue about primary biology or you're ignoring the problem because it suits you.

Of course guano is not sustainable. If takes years to form those deposits, and each time a deposit is extinguished, you have to blow a hole in a cave to go further down the earth searching for more guano. Yes, some of them go to a different cave, but others blow up existing caves to augment them. Still think that's environment friendly and sustainable?

Ridiculing something and ignoring it because it suits you doesn't make it untrue...

But of course, if you don't give a damn about the environment, then you have nothing to lose right? Just don't pretend that you do care.
