Hello Everyone,
After 4 long years of not growing, I have taken it back upon myself to get back at it!! reasons I was not growing were due to places I was living did not have room for it. Now ive got alot of useful space, and I am ready to listen and read to get back at this. I have lights 1000 watt HPS, 1000 watt metal Halide, and 400 watt HPS, and I also have a 2x4 and 4x4 ebb and flow system. What I dont have any more is nutrients which is what im looking for help on?? Can anyone of you kind growers help me out to choose what to buy that will be easy enuff to start back off with?? I have a few meters and so on left, Hanna PH, EC, TDS. The area I am thinking of using is around 6-7 ft high, 4 ft wide and about 4-5 ft long. So I should be able to put a 1000 watt light in there right? Ive looked into exhaust fans and should be grabbing one this week. Any help to newbie me would be great. Thanks in advance to anyone who reply's HG |

Hello hydro, If your looking for a one part nute i would recomend GH Flora Nova. i am on my 2nd grow with it and it works great! be careful it can run a little hot, but if you just take it a tad slow you should have no problems, biulding nute strength a little at a time. alot of people are also combining it with the GH Floralicious organic nutes. Check out SoQuicks' thread in the indoor hydro forum, he is using that combo. I am sure you will get many different responses, this is what is working for me. peace and welcome

I too am relatively new to growing marijuana indoors. One of the most scary things at first was trying to choose nutrients. Everyone has their favorites, and I'm sure there is some combination of the hundreds available that would work better, but I have found that for pure simplicity's sake General Hydroponics Flora Series using the Lucas formula is pretty hard to beat. (Lucas is a guy at one of those other sites). GH Flora comes in the parts: grow, micro, and bloom. The Lucas formula is 5ml/gallon micro, and 10ml/gallon bloom for vegetation; and 8ml/gallon micro, 16ml/gallon bloom for flowering. Notice you will always use twice as much bloom as micro, and you needn't buy any grow. One gallon micro and two gallons of bloom should get you through your first grow, or at least a considerable way into it.
As for the lighting, I think you are probably just right for your size. One thing to keep in mind though, 1000w of HID gets hot, quickly. If at all possible, vent your hood seperately from your grow chamber. And if you overspend on anything, do it on ventilation. I have a 4'x6'x7' high grow chamber with 1000w switcheable ballast with an 8" 700cfm inline fan and carbon scrubber. Incoming air temps are at 70F, temps in grow chamber during lights on are around 80F. But the hood is vented seperately. If you don't vent your hood seperately, it's going to feel like the Mojave desert in July in that small of a space. As for any other questions you may have, you have certainly found the right spot. Nearly everyone here is friendly, knowledgable, and more than willing to share. Good luck. |
