Well another season is upon us here in bc. With whistler mtn opening five days early TODAY> i just got back and have to say, it was nice to hit some powder after all those months off. ROde my burton custom X 160 with c02 bindings, helly hansen pants and jacket, spy optic goggles, and burton ion boots. ALL in all today was perfect. The snow was a little moist, but sooo nice to be able to ride, it made up for it. I went up alone, and bumped into some friends, puffed some bowls mtn side, and enjoyed a few airs here and there. Today only whistler was open, blackcomb was closed, so we rode mostly emerald and red chair, with a little of franz chair. For those of you that don't know these area', stick around im planning on keeping this thread going all winter, and would love for anyone who has pics of this years snowboarding season whereever you are, please throw em up. I didnt take to many today, but got a few for this thread starter.

Im jut aitn for the first dump of the year in the siearras and im on my way to Mammoth MTn.

Nice, Nice, Nice Bubbleman!
I was planning a trip this season to whistler, but need to be doing other stuff so have put it off til next season.
My biggest regret about whistler is that the "Shoestring Lodge" is no longer, i had the absolute time of my life there, one of the best things about whistler. Long live "Das Boot" and the "Boot ballet".

Me and the wife are heading up to Whistler for 12 days. We fly in on December 12th, stay one day in Vancouver and then 10 days in a cabin we have booked in squamish, and then one day in vancouver, then we fly out on the 24th. We would love to hook up with some friendly heads while we are there who could show us a good time. See this thread for more details:

We ran into a little problem though. The cabin we had pre-paid had some sort of fire or whatever and so the owner (who is herb-friendly) hooked us up with another place, although it looks smaller. We have the option of getting a refund, although it was a pretty good deal, only $1200 for 10 days. But, it is an hour away from Whistler, which means two hours of driving each day. My wife isn't the biggest snowboarder, but she has her own board and everything. Do you think we are better off finding somewhere right in Whistler? It would probably be better for the nightlife and partying and stuff, right?

Also, what do you think the chances of us scoring some mushies while we are in BC? I really would like to trip on our trip

Hey swissbliss, , you should definilty contact me when your in bc, i will be riding most of the days you are here, and if you can keep up i wouldnt mind having an icmag riding partner. I can show you where to pick your own mushrooms around vancouver, so you don't even have to buy them, ahh the land of milk and honey, err i mean hash and mushrooms.
anyway if you want some advice on a place to stay, squamish is nice, and only 40minutes from whistler, i have mad friends that live there. But if you go to whistler for a vaction ya may as well stay there. here is a link that may help you find something within your price structure.

HENNESY: You know it brother, HEAVEN, ( there is actualy a run on blackcomb, called 7th heaven.

steel savage: definilty not as nice as cali my brother, but surprisingly it wasnt that cold today, just below zero celsius, maybe 30 F. THe nice thing about it, once you come down the mtn, it all warms up and in fact you could snowboard and surf all in the same day here in BC, just like cali, gotta love the west coast .

joe hawkins: right on man, to bad your missing your trip this year, but it sounds like you got some good memories, ahhh the boot. whoo hoooo

my wife went up today, the local hill Hoch y brig opened yesterday.

I will go soon after i get back from the dam.
hopefully this season will be much better than last sure is off to a good start
