Menagetois, Purple Phenotype

I have four 3way girls going right now, and they're all fantastic. There is a lot of variation between them, but I've treated them all the same way and they've all grown very well.

One plant that I really liked came out with a really deep, pronounced purple on the undersides of the leaves, and on the tops of the upper leaves. It was a short, Indica plant with very little branching. The Calyxes are a tall, skinny cone shape. Many of them are purple/black and stick out of the bud like a punk-rocker's hair, spiky in all directions. The smell is hard to describe, I'll have to wait until it dries. It was vegged for two weeks, and it produced easily an ounce of rock hard buds under my 600w digital HPS at 2 ft. tall. I was very pleased with the yield and quality of the buds considering the short veg. time from seed.

Any thoughts on what might have produced this one? Sorry no pics, but it's so unique I'm sure if you've seen it you'll know what pheno I'm referring to.

man you got me drooling already, i got 2 diff phenos from the beans i planted but only saw purple on the stems.... maybe its a recessive trait. agree with the rock hard buds and wierd smell before cure, mine smell kind of earthy/dirt-like still growing.

was it caused by temperature or just a natural occurance?

Just a natural occurance, although I had a few other plants do it as well. It's indoor, but I don't know how good the insulation is, so it might hit 50*f at night. This 3 way is really awesome. I'd highly recomend it if you want manageable variety in your seed-to-bud grows. Like I said, I treated them all the same, and they all did great. One that's still going will yield over an ounce and a half under my 1k light untrained and untopped. The cola's about 18' long on a two foot tall plant, not bad at all.

youre right, there IS purple in it!

hey aries, just thought id drop you a line and let you know... over the holiday weekend i chopped my MeTs and left them to dry... while i was cutting them i noticed the undersides of the sugar leaves were a nice light purple and the top edges had a nice dark lavender tinge to it. it was brought out by cooler temps with mine though. leaves also had a slight red tint to them as the nutes were flushed out.

All cannabis gets some form of purple color on the stalk, stems, leaves so thats not really anything new. If the calyx and a majority of the bud turns purple like the blackberry strain then I think its worth taking note of, but is purple on the stems and undersides of a few leaves really anything different?

Do you have any pics of the buds you described with the purple? Thanks!

When I first grew the dreamgoddess freebies, I got one girl that turned a bit purple. Here are some old pics of the nugs, not the best, but you can see the color fine. This one smelled like strong purfume, I remeber my buddy saying that it reminded him of walking into a yankee candle store. Very very smooth smoke and a relaxing stone.
