Gluten can be the devil for some!

I took me practically my whole life to realize I had issues with gluten.

I think gluten caused me a ton of fatigue in life... which ended up giving me so many mood issues...

About 6 years ago or so, I went on a health kick to figure out better ways to eat/live...
But I never suspected gluten. Who would suspect wheat was bad? Or grains that contain gluten bad?

Turns out I'm gluten-sensitive. Gluten actually doesn't digest properly in my gut, causing a ton of problems for my system.

One interesting thing is undigested gluten acts like opiates in the body/brain. So you eat it and you get into a fog...but its addicting also, so you stay in that fog. And withdrawal is bad...

I'm excited now because I feel I have a new lease on life. Most importantly I have a sense of -control- that I never had before. I now understand that I can avoid feeling a certain way if I avoid certain foods.

I bet there are alot of people who don't digest gluten properly on this board who could be really helped by going off it. I think in the next few years this will really become widespread.

For instance, taking antidepressants...when all you need to do is go off gluten.

most of the people in the world are allergic to gluten but because it doenst make you break out in hives or swell up most never make the connection between gluten and how they feel. ironically gluten is in like every processed food in America. makes you think the FDA food pyramid huh? they never knew what they were talking about anyway...seriously.

pulled a stoner move & thought this thread was gonna be about gluttony.

i understand what it's like to realize a particular food messes w/ ya & having to quit eating it. my body no longer allows me to have lactose & geez it's a difficult!! i can not get over how processed our foods have become... thought i was safe w/ brown sugar oatmeal, but the brown sugar is actually processed & contains lactose. not to mention i can no longer enjoy ice cream, pizza,so many sweets , & going out to eat is basically out.

Do you know how many common things you eat everyday have glutin in them? bread, pizza, bagels, beer, brownies, pie crust, ice cream cake, pasta...the list goes on

my brother would give his left nut for a pill that would let him eat a slice of pizza again

I love wheat gluten. I'm glad I'm not allergic to it. Some seitan in my scrambled eggs or chili... mMmmMM

"Comrades!" he cried. "You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. Milk and apples (this has been proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. The whole management and organization of this farm depend on us. Day and night we are watching over your welfare. It is for your sake that we drink that milk and eat those apples. Surely, comrades, surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come back?"

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

My gf has Celiac
Really changed the way I eat, I dropped about 25 pounds in the 8 years we have been together, just by cutting out gluten.

Best of luck getting your diet back in order.

Yeah I like gluten stuff, I mean.. I used to.
But now that I took out the stuff my digestive system is like "nuh uh..no you don't"

But I don't even miss the stuff. You can get gluten free breads/cereals/cookies...

And of course there is rice noodles/rice...just lots of stuff.

I love being gluten free anyday!

PS I don't have celiac.. I just am sensitive to gluten..or intolerant. Seems there is just a whole spectrum of ways you respond to gluten..and problem the same thing with other foods like eggs or dairy.
