Pot size for vegetative time
Hello all!
2nd question of the day, perhaps i should have put the 2 questions in the same post.. but it doesn't deal of the same subject... I actually grow under hps 150 4 plants in 1.4gallons pots. It's too slow and i haven't vegetative spectrum (with hps...) I think that, to improve speed of grow: - i will put 8 plants ( to have 4female at the end of vegetative time..) in 0.2gallons pots (my growbox cannot have more than 0.2gallons pots if i want to put 8 plants) - i will put an MH light during vegetative time ( i cannot actually because i have in the same time plants in vegetative time and plants flowering ). Is 0.2gallons pots enough for all the vegetative time? Thanks you all, and excuse my english, i do my best! |

There is weeks of grow. Before sexing, you have to put an 6400k light to increase the developement. no?
Last session i grow lowrider under mg light and before sexing they were under 6400k, and then during flowering under 2400k. For the 3 first week, 0.2gallons pots is enough? Last edited by Lurz; 11-04-2007 at 08:09 PM.. |

As far as i know there is no veg phase. The plants grow off their age rather than light cycle. The seedling stage last around two weeks once the seed pops through. I grew mine under a digital 600 hps from the get go and they flourished under the redder spectrum bulb. I would say go with the strongest hps light you got and start them in those red plastic beer cups until they are sexed. Once sexed if you have space for one gallon pots go that route at least. Two gallon post will work great as well.

For absolute best results, use a HPS for lighting all the way through the growth. It cant be beat. I dont use fluoros at all anymore.

I just want to be sure that in the first 3 weeks you don't use any blue spectrum to improve results. In other website, i saw growers using MH (metal halide) before sexing and after HPS.
I don't want to buy an MH if it's not usefull.. You say that you grow under HPS but they are hps with 30% of blue spectrum, mine is 100% red. Thank you. Last edited by Lurz; 11-07-2007 at 07:31 PM.. |

With such a short veg time if you want to be cost effective you can just buy the HPS and use for both and save a buck. If you already have a MH go ahead and use it and the HPS. But I start all my seedlings under a cheap CFL setup and move under the HPS when sexed. When I have some regular strains in my veg area I go ahead and use the MH and just place the AF seedlings alittle further away from the light untill they have a good second set of leafs and the third starting to show and move them closer with the others. For the veg time ( before sexed ) I just leave them in plastic beer cups and once the sex I put them into there final 1.5 gallon pot and let them goto town.
