Massive hand job and a couple ounces of skuff
That's hash to you youngsters out there.
This is the trimmings from my last grow, 15 sweet cindy. In additon thee is about 3 ounces of buds I'm running through with the trim leaf and wispy lower buds I always seperate out for the hand shaker. I use a hand shakerbecuse I cant afford the outrageous prices for bubble bags and the like and I appreciate the non perfection of skuff with some bits of other plant material in there.I kind of liken bubble bags to everclear. When I want to get an alcohol buzz on, I dont go straight to the 200 proof stuff, I take my time and enjoy the ride and taste of my beer or CC getting there. Call it justification if you like, but this way makes better hash than Ive ever seen from the street before, though that isnt realy saying a whole lot. Here is the lineup of supplies for this adventure. Thats two pounds of trim leaf and lower buds and three ounces of straight up buds. I would eventually spend over 12 hours at this this weekend. I loved every minute of it. My best hand shaker, two 3 cup #7 tupperware, one with the bottom cut off. The intact shaker is the holding cup and the top 1/2 you can remove for easy changover. The screen is 100 mesh silkscreen. The ring over it is the tupperware top, with the inside portion cut away with a razor blade. Obviously you do it so it's attachment insert remains intact. Lay the scree over the mouth and cover like norma, making sure the screen is taut. This is the trimmings And the mixture of buds and trim I use in each container full And some of the progression as seen on an 8 square foot glass table Ikeep the bare streak through the middle to see how much crap is coming through and determine when to change material. |

After round one comes round two, the secondary shaker.
This one is made out of a mason jar and a stainles steel coffee filter for your automatic drip coffeepot. It's available at any US grocery store for $5. It fits perfectly over the top of your mason jar. Screw the ring on, trim off the excess and off you go. This thing is heavy and provides quite the workout, but my hashmaking is not complete until I use it. The screen gets very encrusted and nees to be tapped off frequently You can see the ringtap in this pic, the semi circle of skuff above and left. It'll get more noticable ![]() When I'm done, there is a very nice pile spread all over the glass to the very edges and beyond. I'm sure a gram or two goes beyond the edge in a fine dusting Here. I'll show you. I've employed my long unemployed cocaine skills and scraped all the excess to the center pile I just shook out. Scrape the middle of the cirle to it's own pile and all the outide stuff to it's pile and they are very nearly the same size each container holds roughly 15-17 grams, lightly compressed so the heads dont rupture. I like my skuff in powder form for bowl toppings or joint additions. |

Thanks for the thread. As always, when I see someones inventions or adaptions to inventions, I get all warm and fuzzy and start building on the idea.....it looks like you're getting some pretty decent quality skuff there.
Unfortunately...everything I can think of right now costs $$ So . . . now I have all these plans.... and no way to do it.....damn you Caprichoso..... hehe :pSeriously though, thanks 123p

Thanks Grower, DrD, 123P.
My arm is still a little sore a couple days later, but I got meds for that ![]() 123, here is an even cheaper version of the first shaker using standard pantyhose as the screen. You can adjust mesh size by pulling it more or less taut. replace requently since bud stems will poke holes in it before long. |

Nice, u know im gonna be doing this with all my trim. Ive a harvest in16 days, then another the same size roughly but different strain two weeks l8er, then another bigger harvest of another different strain a week after that, im gonna save all my mixed trim, and popcorn buds to give this a whirl, well, some is gonna be oiled with butane, but most of it will be done this way. thanks.
Would an old silk shirt be of any use???

I just purchased a stainless steel mesh screen from this website. They sell all kinds of stuff from hydro supplies to lab testing and fish culture equipment.
https://www.aquaticeco.com/index.cfm/...ories/ssid/223 Got 4sq ft for $23.89 with shipping. I'm going to use it for my masonsifter and in the kif box I'm making out of a cedar humidor I just got off Ebay. The box is stained green and has a high gloss finish, it's beautiful. I have enough screen to make a few kif boxes that I plan to sell for reasonable prices when I get a few more small humidor boxes. I know I'm building one for my younger brother either for xmas or his b-day in Jan. That site also has nylon and polyester mesh for sale by the foot, and mesh filter bags. I'm getting my bags from filterbag.com because they sell a 5 gallon sample kit with bags ranging from 35 microns up to like 800, 10 bags total for $60. That's way more reasonable than bags sold for hash collection (those prices make me sick). Raplace them down the road for another $60 and you still spend less than half the cost of a complete set of bags marketed to stoners. Way to go for making your own system. I used to use pantyhose to shake kif but I'm gonna try this steel mesh and see how it pans out. |
