Seeds found in WW bud?
I posted this 6 weeks ago under a dif. section. I'm hoping the pro's can help. My last grow I grew out some WW and ICE next to each other. I let them go 9 weeks and did not see any signs of banana's, etc.. I culled all the males early as well.
On one of the WW (only one-none of the other ww and ice plants had seeds) while manicuring I noticed some seeds which I picked out. This plant yielded over 4 oz's and I found about 20 seeds. I planted 6 of these seeds 6 weeks ago, all sprouted and my cat ate 2. I then planted 2 more. Here's the kicker, every plant turned female. Now I have been growing on and off for a good 26 years and I have never had this success rate. Is this just dumb luck, or am I missing something which I hope can be explained. Thanks Last edited by greenisgold; 10-12-2007 at 11:04 PM.. |

one of them probably went hermie and pollinated itself, resulting in feminized seeds.
They will probably be pretty vulnerable to going hermie again, so keep an eye on heat, don't open the door during dark time, look for light leaks ect.

A hermied plant is one with both male and female traits. It produces pollen and bud. Although if I am not mistaken, the hermie itself shouldn't produce straight female seeds. The hermie pollen that gets onto another female should produce the feminized seeds. Good luck!

Seeds found in a female are called "selfed" seeds, meaning the plant made them all by herself without being pollinated by a male plant. these seeds, referred to as "S-1"s, will always produce female plants. There are many factors contributing to theis phenomenon, Tactic summed up the major issues.

Day 19, 12/12 for 2 plants and day 10 for the other 2 and all is okay so far. Damn white flies got into room, but they are almost all gone. One plant is showing a lack of calcium-just gave her some cal-max so hopefully that will help her out. I tried bushmasters as well on 2 plants at the end of week 2 and damn did it stop stretching fast. But I think it may be the last time I use it because the plants do not look as healthy as the others. One thing is for sure, if these plants are going to hermie then that shit should send them on their way.

So the plants finished about a month ago. In regards to seeds from this plant and herms, well none of them hermed. I had a hell of an issue with white flies which screwed the grow up some-they never went away. I gave them Bush masters which stunted one. I left a secondary light on a few times when the main lights were off. Used safer soap, raised the temps to over 90 at times,, blew mass amounts of wind at them, etc.. In other words I wanted to see if these plants would herm. And nothing-no seeds, no nanners, just some pretty damn good bud especially with all that I threw at them. My conclusion, selfed seeds are pretty damn stable. This was my smallest yield ever. I used an eye 400 watt blue bulb until week 4 of flower. I then added a 270 super agro, pulled the eye and replaced with a 400 hps. 4 plants, 2 were very small, five and a half ounces.
Peace an and no pics, sorry but the grow was nothing to brag about. The smoke is stoney as hell though. Peace |
