Question,

Purchased from seeds direct around 4 months ago a Soma salad pack. I like most have been building a collection of seeds I would like to grow, so these were stored with many other previous purchases. (Others that have been grown out with great success)

This time around I was going to do 3 Sweet Tooth #3's and 4 of the Soma salad's.

I normally only germinate what I plan on growing, my experiences up till now has been I usually get 100% germination on everything.

Well to make a long story short, I had to germinate 6 seeds of the Soma salad to get 3 that would pop. And the ones that popped seem like they are all the equivelnt of runts. (During germination it took the Soma's like 10 days from start to have roots long enough to plant) While my normal experience up till now is usually like 3-4 days.. It's been like 2 weeks since germ and today 1 of the 3 died. So now I am left with 2 of the Soma that are dwarfed by the sweet tooths.. The Sweet tooth's are probably like 4-5 times further ahead in growth with all of the sweet tooth's growing healthy. I have never seen seeds act this way, lethargic is almost how it seems.

I have read stories about really old seeds acting in this manner.

So far I have been very disapointed.

ohh jeez that's terrible.

The rate this are growing I don't know if they are even viable.

Did you take it up with Seeds direct? Do they stand by other people's seeds?

i didn't due to the fact that over the years i have been so well compensated by seeds direct and gypsy in advance that i didn't feel the need to do so ~

It just might be the year for slow starts and weak germination rates. I too have had a great germination % until this year. Lots more seeds and seedlings have not made it to the garden than in the past. Others near me are experiencing similar disfunctions using different styles and genetics. I'm just going to lay down more seeds than usual and clone the hell out of one that makes it to 4 nodes. Good luck to all and I hope this weird germing/seedling phase passes soon. Peace Herb

crimpshrine- Sorry you had trouble. . Mine was hard to.. My Soma Salad won over at SeedBay.. Early this month... I placed 10/10 into rubber dirty took 4days to germ.. Germ 5 out of 10.. But they are weak and growing slow... Had to help pull the seed pod off.. But I am glad to have some of Soma genes for a low price tag of 45 bucks.. They say it is NYCD to Haze Heaven. Hoping for a winer....

First off, I have enjoyed Soma's Herbs in the past so, in no way, am I knocking Soma's beans!! Some cured herb, I tried over the summer, which was grown from Soma's Salad pack was quite good and had me high for hours!! Recently, I tried to germ 12 femed Kilamanjaro seeds and successfully had 5 germ with 4 nice, healthy females and I am very pleased!! peace, tRu

i think it's safe to say that the soma seeds gypsy is selling out of his personal stash have a diminished germination rate at this point of their lifespan. when making a decision to purchase them, one should take that into consideration. i have purchased a few packs on seedbay that, shall we say, had a less than desireable germination rate... before hitting that purchase button i ask myself "self, are you willing to take a hit on germination ratios for a reduced price tag?"
