Seoul, terrible bust
I left seoul about a week ago and am slowly making my way across the world. I want to share with you a story about an elaborate bust here that involved the media and the police working together. My sources are local foreigners. I cant sight an article, because it is in korean.
About three weeks ago a news reporter(undercover) was hanging out with a couple of foreigners who have been in korea for a while. They, apparently really know about the market and have good connections... Everyone was really drunk, and the reporter started asking them questions about cannabis here, like how many people use it, how to get it, how it comes into the country, etc. So it seems that these guys dropped a bunch of first names of connections. Again no-one really knows exactly what happened. The reporter, after their drinking session(a past time in korea, its ok to get so drunk that you cant walk anymore and vomit on the street, but no puffing) went to the police told them what he had learned. The following day a big dealer, and a few people growing were caught. I think it was about 20 foreigners in all who were arrested. So a week after this all went down this reporter did a huge story about foreigners using drugs in korea and causing lots of problems. Something along the lines of foreigners come to korea for easy money(teaching english) and to **** korean girls(kind of like a sport or something). Well the korean economy isnt so hot right now so this is just a tool to divert attention away from the real and serious problems. Just wanted to share this with everybody, be careful in korea! |

NOTHING NEW THERE ! Korea has never been and will never be substance tollerant Example in point..... A military friend got popped along with his girlfriend for smoking MJ due to another females big mouth. Well the korean national police broke down the door torn the whole place up And of course found the big stash!!!! A whole whopping three joints . as a result of this bust. he lost a stripe , was put on what is known as international hold wich means you cant leave the country till the national police are done with you the girlfriend was sent to a korean prision and held without a trial along with this the koreans also have a policy in wich any crimes committed by a korean national are then recorded in thier national family registry where the intrire family of said criminal is listed , the criminal then has a RED line drawn thru their name ... This then subjects the criminal to varrious sanctions such as they cant hold a government job or ever leave the ROK (republic of korea) this happened in 1977

In Thailand there's a large reward if you can tell the police where a foreigner with cannabis is staying (Koh Samui is the TRAP ISLAND where the police have 5 or 6 high end sports cars each).
In Malaysia there are police officers buying new houses with the money they extract from people they catch SMOKING - the alternative being 10 years in jail or the death sentence. And yet Asia also seems the least willing to discuss what cannabis is. It just can't be talked about in a grown up way here. To the governments, heroin, crystal meth and cannabis are all the same drug and if you argue it then you will be ejected from the discussions. And honestly, I blame the US and UK misinformation campaigns.

Korea hates dope
yeah in Korean there is only one word for all illegal dope, Mi Yak, which covers all drugs. So to Koreans weed, heroin, blow, it's all the same.
