HELP with MOLD
I am currently growing in a 2'x3'x8' high closet. 400 w hps (non vented,no glass) 3 waterfarms, 6" intake fan on bottom of closet door, exhaust fan on top of door. mold allready claimed main cola of Cali-o and now i have found two spots on golden skush, i am going to get rid of the moldy buds and harvest the in the next couple days. i might just harvest ALL of it tomorrow, there allmost done i think. My question is this, i have two beautifull clones of the Golden Skush that are allmost ready to go into flower, i really like the mom and want to flower the clones, what can i do to prevent the mold from invading? the clones have been topped once so there will be no giant main cola. any input GREATLY appreciated. MOLD FUCKIN SUCKS

Immediate response
Go buy a sulphur vaporizer! It will kill that mold on contact. Use it as directed. I use mine once a week just to be proactive.
Trust me, none of the chemicals or milk spray or other tricks are worth your time. A sulphur vaporizer will kill that mold fast. |

Big fat cola's are real nice....
, problem is....big fat cola's can become mouldy Good ventilation and temp control will help prevent this, but not always. Genetic's will also come into play here as well, with certain strain's being more mould resistant than other's. I've had cola's that were so damn big, they wouldn't ripen evenly/properly. I will usually try and seperate the larger buds of a cola by wedging them apart with plastic slurpee straws, allowing them to get equal light.H202 will kill root rot that you might have in your resevoir, but will not do didley squat to cure your mouldy buds. I have heard of guy's spraying on watered down solutions of mycorrhizal fungi, as a foiliar spray directly on mouldy bud's. This beneficial type of fungi will instantly attack and kill mould if applied correctly. It's not an insecticide, and it's not a nutrient. Mycorrhizal fungi can be found growing naturally in soil, and help plant's uptake water and nutrient's through their roots.

Blatant: what did you do with the moldy buds? did you grow GS again, did it mold again? i just cut the main "baseballbat" cola, i had no choice. when i broke it apart i found mold all over the interior of it, this stuff is DENSE. I am now contemplating wether or not to grow this strain again. MOLD FUCKIN SUCKS!! RMS: thanks for all the input. what is your take on dehumidifiers? for flowering only. i think i am going to try avoid having a few huge colas, try for many smaller ones. i just went through the uneven ripening deal with a fairly large Cali-o cola. kind of a pain in the ass, it just never stopped producing flowers towards the top, while ripening lower down. that one molded as well. i am going to improve ventilation and i have allready topped and trained my GS clones. MOLD F*%KING SUCKS!!!!! thanks again

Clarification
Are you talking about mold in large buds due to humidity, or something like powdery mildew? Sulphur works for the latter. The former needs circulation and dessication.

dessication
Removal of moisture from the air. I don't have problems with humidity where I am, fortunately!

Now that you have spores in your space it should be cleaned with a 50% bleach solution, floor to ceiling!!And all equipment too! Serenade and Safers fungicide work before it starts to inhibit mold development, so next time you may wish to use these first. Moldy buds are very unsafe, time to use the bubblebags! Put a filter on your intake air too and if you remove any sections don't allow it to disperse into the room.
