-with proper ventilation how close can your folliage come to the cool tubes??? can they come in direct contact?

-Where can I find a good deal on an inexpensive/good quality cool tube for 250W or a 400W MH.

-If I have the glass needed for the tube itself, what other components would I need to make my own complete DIY cool tube?

I actually have let some of the leaves hit my 1000 watt cool tube with no ill effects. Of course the tube is cooled very well.

it depends on how fast the air is blowing through the cool tubes if you could blow air through them fast enough you probally could do 6inches at best and the air would really have to be blasting

I was curious about the same thing too. I've done air cooled hoods in the past and am curious how cool tubes compare. I was also checking out the water cooled hoods, but have no point of reference since I don't know at what temp a cool tube runs at and how much heat is radiated.
