When cutting clones, why cut the leaves?
I've been seeing people do this for a while now? How does the clone benefit from the cut leaves. Thanks for the info guys-girls.

Don't quote me ....
But i think they do this to revert the plants energy to produce roots, instead of taking the engery all the way to the leaves.
I think that is right.?.?. hawk |

The Little clone benefits because now with less leaf it can concentrate on building it's root structure........

1st: Plants prespire (loose moisture) through their leaves. By cutting the leaves in half, you reduce the amount of moisture the plant can give off. Since the plant has no roots yet this is very important.
2nd: Some people believe it makes them root faster. I have never found this to be true, but respectable people say otherwise, so the jury's still out on that one. -KRS Juan-

Only way to relay prove it's theory is a trial. I have tried both side by side same genetics and strain. The halfed leaf clone always is faster at root growth then the untrimmed clone. That's the best way to try Juan, tkae 2 and 2 and then cmpare them yourself for peace of mind...

Hash: I actually did. With 3 different strains (OG kush, Trainwreck, and Minikush) I took 4 of each strain, 2 cut, 2 uncut and not did not see a difference in a single one. As previously stated, this was just my experience, and may be due to my cloning process or enviornment.

I cut mine because the cuttings transpire, like KRS Juan says.

gives roots a place to grow out of. I pull the leaves downward to get that stringy piece off the stem. This provides an opening for the roots to grow out of. Thats why you cut at an angle to produce the largest area for the roots to grow out of. Then pull off the bottom 2 leaves to make more openings for the roots to grow out of. It just makes openings in the outer part of the stem for the roots to grow out. That's why I do it anyway.
there's lots of reasons & what everybody said above are some of the other reasons.
