Ebb & Flow Bucket system
I am starting out and deciding to go with hydroponics, I drew up a bucket system, lots of props out to those on this forum like hog and groweringinshorts. I drew up the sketch and scanned it, any flaws? tips?
https://forum.grasscity.com/showthrea...741#post482741 The image is at that link. thanks |

thats nice, did you build that one? How much did it cost in the end? Were there any problems with the outer buckets being underwatered or were they fine?

Hey Smokey! --
![]() That image is of the Multi Flow System, as offered from this site: https://www.hydroponics.net But if you would prefer to build, as opposed to buy, then check out Krypto's most excellent thread on how to build the Controller, and HOG's threads on setting up and running an E&F Bucket Garden... [edit] LazyBob shoulda linked to the referenced threads... Sorry! But I see Shorts did in the next post. ![]() |

Hi Smokey-
HOG has a great thread on how to build the system HERE Kryptonite has an excellent thread on how to build a controller HERE I think these contributions to our boards are extraordinary. My multi flow is the store-bought one above, however if these boards were around 2 yrs ago when I originally bought this sytem, I would have built it. The improvements discussed in those forums are very helpful. Hope this helps in your journey.

What is the point of building the controller that krypto built? Couldnt you just use regular timers and plug it into the wall end of story, sorry but all that eletrical stuff made me what to forget about that idea. i know its commen sense but sometimes i just dont have the mental capacity to handle crap like electrical work because i dont want to waste money or time. I dont want to grow with soil thats for sure.. I want to give the bucket system but im worried i will fuck up and waste $150

Hey Smokey! --
![]() I posted a blurbage over in Krypto's thread... Hope it helps! Note: Are you hard set on running a Bucket E&F? You don't have to, you know... There are many that grow with DWC Buckets that are 100% stand-alone. And still many others {myself included} that use Buckets connected to a Controller, and use pumps manually for filling and draining as necessary... If you would like to know more about this, just shout! -BuzzBob |

Smokey McPot, the controller buckets gives you a peace of mind. You are completely reliable on pumps and timers in hydroponics. The controller is just another thing to help you relax and let your plants grow. As far as the complication level for the controller bucket........kryptonite breaks it down to be very very simple. Almost like coloring by numbers!
Check out the hydro forum later tonight. I am going to be posting my new 12 bucket grow without a float valve controller bucket. It is not neccassary, but like I said, its a peace of mind knowing that if the timer, for some reason, continues to run, the float valve will turn off the pump. To each his own on any system they use. Every one does things a little different, and by everyone contributing their ideas it gives everyone else a chance to choose what works best for them. |

Hey Smokey, Your new like me but man atleast check out HOGS gallery and then dissin the buckets. Those be trees man freakin trees. Thank you HOG for sharing the wealth of info up inside that stoned mind of yours. 150.00 compared to the end result makes it menial. Spend 150.00 3-4 months later you got what 1000.00 worth of crispy bud spend 300.00 3-4 months later you got 2000.00. I think you get the idea. Growing is like racing how fast do you wanna go and how much do you got to spend. Don't sweat the electronics get a ready made system follow the instructions and learn that is the key thing, growing is fun fun as hell sitting there at night watching the girls grow like weeds. I will say if you are a true newbie you came to the right place cause if you read enough all the answers are here. And you won't get flammed for asking what to you is'nt a dumb question. Good Luck
There is no price for peace of mind Mr.Wags |

timers
with hydro you are not going to get arround timers and/or controllers. I used times for aere misters, lights, and fans. simple electical. you can also do krypto's system in low-voltage components that you would use on model trains. hardly enough voltage to make problems. it is all in the cost of the components. you can buy pre-assembled micro-components and spend more money, or be like krypto and others and build brutha build, Be the McGyver!
