just to clear things up on how to avoid sticky icky hard to work w/ hash oil...... (called it hash at begining of thread for ease of understandance)

it depends on how long the material is in contact w/ the alcohol........

i only shake for 20 seconds and pour and squeese to filter as fast as possible! thus getting that golden brown flaky stuff that i roll into a ball and gets dark......

don't know how it got up to 90-200 seconds

i would suggest that nobody rinse for longer then 25-30 seconds........ but the less time the material is in contact w/ the alcohol = the better.......

i would recomend everybody to try an experiment.........

make one wash at say 20 seconds......... and next wash 5-10 more....... say at 25-30? see wich you like better!

i wanted/want to make bho for a while now.......... only that we are talking about flamable gas,,,,, or liquid butane? as a solvent.........

if it was'nt for the danger and nosy neighbors out back i would have made some a while ago..........

G33k Speak- how is the final product in bho compared to iso? potency, taste, texture?

I've only ran ISO a couple times, but to tell you the truth MM, I think BHO is an easier process. And IMO BHO beats out ISO in taste and high...I feel the product you get with bho is a closer and more accurate representation of your starting material. Believe that bho is a better solvent in terms of extracting the "good" terpenes/plant waxes/whatever to get a tasty and smooth final product.

If you're able to do it outside, I'd say the danger factor is about 0. My only tip is to do a lonnggg, low-heat purge which will get all the last traces of butane out and leave you with a rock-hard product that is easy to work with. Good butane+good purge=damn tasty oil.

Here is some Honey Oil I made using a cold wash Iso method. The bud used was a strain called Sour Slut. (ecsd x space queen)





This was some potent, amazing SOUR tasting oil...... ........especially when vaped.

Damn..nice oil. Probably the clearest iso I've seen. Bet it's tasty as hell too, considering the bud that went into it.
