What do you think his intentions / plans were, in bringing up the growing-pot-in-loft-bed story? Do you think he wanted to discuss it? And for what purpose, with what outcome? Should I try to re-approach him and try to discuss this? If so, how do I initiate this conversation, and how do I word it, etc?
No way, never confess to growing, unless he corners you specifically, he's probably just being honest or trying to make you fess up without even having proof. He may even know, but another guess could be that he may be testing you to see if you are security conscious (ie. tight lips) or if you are the type to spill the beans. He may even grow himself, if that is the case tho he would have admitted to at least smoking. The whole zombie comment is a red flag, negative..

What I'd like to get out of this is: Does he know FOR SURE that I'm growing, and that this wasn't some HUMONGOUS coincidence? I admit, this can't possibly be a coincidence... he HAS to know... but just in case of the 0.0000001% chance that it is a coincidence...
Unless he entered your apartment without you knowing (pretty shady), I doubt he knows, but again, the rule is to keep quiet and go about life as usual, you want to be the nice guy and not seem sketchy in any way..

Another thing I'd love to get out of this, but am not necessarily sure I know how to go about it, is if he really is cool with it, then how do I potentially bring up the idea / topic of being able to rent out another studio in this building (there's always a unit or two available every month or two) for living, and using my current unit for growing. Perhaps offering him some sort of compensation for keeping it "don't ask, don't tell" or similar (don't want make it sound like I'm involving him).
Your out of your mind. Now you want to go to jail, LOL, bro, plant your personal and be happy. You share circuits and can't handle security issues effectively in that spot to begin with. He'd set you up beautifully and get a reward depending on what draconian city you may live in. That would be a bust waiting to happen.

And oh, one more detail: we've never chatted or anything, or really much more than a "hey" or a "good morning" or something while passing by in the hallway or laundry room. But I think we're on "cool" status. When I first moved in, after signing the lease I bought lunch for him and his stepson. Since then, once every couple of months or so I've bought him a chocolate cake (costs me about $11, pre-made from grocery store) after finding out he loooves chocolate cake. He's thanked me for it each time. This was, of course, in preparation for when the shit might hit the fan... just like it seems to have in a way...
I'm all for growing and growing your own herb forever, but being stupid will land you in jail. Just keep up being a good tenant, help him move stuff, carry stuff, buy cake for him, whatever. That's good and keeps people happy.
BUT Don't ignore such a golden rule man! LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS! Specially people who are landlords and are responsible. He can go to jail and will snitch in a hertbeat. Bro don't be so naive, don't trust anyone, in a pinch people will hand your ass over on a platter, don't be stupid. If he knows and is cool, great, but show him you're responsible and don't go spilling the beans. I was in a similar situation and come to find out dude never even imagined I grew, even tho I swore he had to know.

Stay quiet, grow your own and move to a spot with your own electricity breaker box if you want more than a 400 watt grow,

peace and good luck
MVHO

Oh, by the way, I'm a "legal" medical grower in the state of California. No one is going to jail for small-time stuff like this. Only when the DEA gets involved does it become a real case.

I don't share circuits. I have my own meter. I have my own "box" although it's not technically a box.

He doesn't grow. At least not here. And I'd be willing to bet that he doesn't grow anything, anywhere.

He's not the landlord. He's the manager / maintenance guy. These live-in managers are fairly common around these parts.

And oh... I live in Oakland. 72 plants. Measure Z.

Well that's much better compared to Mississipi or whatever, but if you want to rent an apartment just for growing, you say you can't go to jail? You'll have a hefty lawyer fee at least.....Keep your lips shut

lol, he could care less dude otherwise you's already be in some shit, he's just letting you know, he know's, and thats he's cool with it. Just Pay your rent on time and he will still like you as a good tenent. Anyways where you live they can't do anything to you anyways, they'd have to make up some shit to get you evicted besides growing. My old landlord in san jose hated i was growing became a hateful bitch after i was os nice, but still couldn't get me to move out as the LAW was on my side, untill i wanted to.

Yeah tenant laws are REDICULOUS in Cali. Don't ever rent to anyone you plan on kicking out! HAhah. Hey man, I'm all for overgrowing the govt. with numbers. Come on tho clowntown, coming on here asking if you should approach a manager to rent a full on apartment to grow, will get comments of "Be careful he could set you up" and you know that an apartment full is no personal med mj op. You would have to be set to pay hefty lawyer fees, you may not see jail, but you could have a big headache in terms of time and money.

I live in tiny junior studio apartment, in a crappy neighborhood, in a big city. Residing across the hallway from me is the live-in apartment / building manager,
Those just aren't optimum for safe large grows. IMO
best of luck

He has already been growing there for months, and am sure his apt mng already knew (just let him know now). Just stay under 72 female plants and the law will always be on your side where you live. They don't count males or unsexed plants also where you live, so it makes you even look better .

Well, that was only to take into account for the 0.0000001% that it could have been coincidence. But you're most likely right about lawyer fees, headaches, and bail bond money if something DOES happen, even if I'm cleared in the end.

In no way would it be a "large" grow, though, IF I did do it. It'd be 2.4kw max, primarily due to space and electrical constraints. But that's only just something I'm daydreaming about, not necessarily something that I'm ready to go along with just yet.

First things first though, and that is whether I should approach him again about this topic and whether he's 100% cool with it, etc. And how to bring the subject back up, and how to word it, which way to "route" conversation, and so on...
