It's Coco - it's local, and it's sorta cheap! $9.50 retail for 2 cubic feet...
Anyways, I just set up a room using it - but it's my first time with a coco product, so I'm looking for some advice My plan at the mo' is to run 2-gallon soil bags on 4x8 tables under 1000's, and set up a top-feed.... From what I've read here, it seems like I'll be doing a single daily top-feed until about 10% run-off (once the roots are well established, of course).... 57 - if you read this, can you repost your "simple top feed" thread on these forums somewhere? I'll be usin the good ole 3-part, w/carboload, barricade, a little B-52 and probably a dose of pirannah/voodoo at the beginning....plus of course, Bud Blood, Big Bud, and Overdrive. I've noticed people in the coco-threads on this forum are pretty down on Cal-Mag, so I'm not gonna use any unless I see some Mg issues.... any ideas guys?

I have a bag of it. I am running it on a few of my clones alongside some perlite/peat moss. I didn't run straight coco mixed some perlite and earthworm castings. I plan on watering it just like I do the peat/perlite. No special nutes either. It is my first go at coco but I am kind of treating it like my other mix. We will see.

Yeah, turns out it's pretty hot nute-wise - I top fed with pure water at ph 6.0 and the run-off pretty much melted my EC-meter
3500 ppms (0.7) Those kids went crazy with the turkey-shit or something! ![]() so...yeah, I'll be flushing the hell out of those girls tomorrow....

It's a'ight
Yeah, it's ok I guess - but I'd rather just buy that exact coco blend, without them puttin a bunch of crap in it.
![]() I got tip burn on 12" tall plants after transplanting, and watering them in with 200 ppms(0.7) of B52. Even after runnin about 300 gallons of ph 5.8 nute solution (over the last couple weeks) through my 50 2-gallon bags, the run-off still comes out at ph 7.4 /shrug |

Hey glad you'all are trying my friends coco mix. I find that coco can be rather heavy/wet likes to hold water. I like to mix a bunch of perlite to fluff it up a bit to oxygenate the roots more. And that way your E.C. won't be as high cause you're diluting the coco.
BTW- another real good coco co. that has no E.C. and is organic is Empire brand coco. They also sell coco chips (look like multch) They are fantastic-especiall for the bottom two inches of your container. good luck growing mark |

I have been crushing it with the basement mix. Hands down best out of the bag coco based medium growing. It is growing like the so cal wildfires. It seems everyone is using it.
I don't think it is "hot" at all. I checked out there web site and followed thier directions. I take clones and put them in 4in pots . Water lightly the first water, then I feed acording to cutting edge 3 part. I feed with cutting edge every watering. 12 sour d under one thousand watt gives me 2 plus pounds. I even started some flood and drain with it. I flushed it till the medium ran clear then put it in 4 inch pots flooding once a day. After a couple weeks I transplanted to 6 inch pots with the net bottom. It floods 6 times a day. ****ing huge. My pineapples look like big bud. I have been using coco for years. Mixing it with perlite and earthworms and stuff. I will never mix again. The basement mix rocks. I think the censoring or my adjetive "****ing Huge" is lame. We are adults talking about weed on a web site based out of holland. Something is wrong here. Last edited by seaweed; 10-31-2007 at 07:21 PM.. |
