which coco to get?
Im making the switch to coco and needed some help from you guys. I ordered canna coco nutes ( A & B ) and PK 13-14 after reading just about every thread in this forum. Seemed most have success with the A & B and PK 13-14 and seems fairly simple . Question is which coco to get. Im meaning toward the botanicare 5kg bricks. From what i read those dont need to get flushed much ( correct me if i am wrong) . Reason i was leaning towards it was the 5kg brick is $11.95 and is said to expand to 70 liters, where as the loose bag is $24.95 for a 50 liter bag. so to me it just makes more sense to get 2 bricks and have 140 liters worth for the price of 50 liters. Again correct me if i am wrong.
so does that sound like a good plan or is there another coco that you guys have found is good. Thank you in advance Nevermind |

Well my friend your post got me up out of my chair, to test out this 5kg block that has been sitting here for months hehe. It's the botanicare one that you speak of.
After playing with it, Prognosis Negative my friend. Personally I didnt like it. Too much of a hassle to expand the stuff (pretty damn hard brick if you ask me), it's very particaly, somewhat dusty even. Measured the runoff and it was at 0.4 EC. Just too much trouble when the canna coco stuff is ready to go outta the bag. I know its a savings, but considering that we can re-use the Coco 2-3x, I guess it ends up being pennies in the long haul. The one big-big upside I thought the bricks had, was stealthy-ness. If your growing in an apt, it could suck to bring in 4-5 bags of the big canna coco stuff. Wheres the bricks looks like you just went grocery shopping! =) |

The botanicare bale is a good call.....but I just got my first bale of Down to Earth coco husks...and man are they the bomb. Can't wait to start growing in these babies. I plan on mixing them with my botanicare coco, as I find the bale coir is too fine of a grade. I am also planning on using the coco husks by themselves to see if there is a difference.
Cheers, SH |

I use the Canna coco, excellent stuff. Also can i suggest that you try and get some B'cuzz coco booster and B'cuzz coco bloom stimulator as well as Rhizotonic.
Good luck with coco and feel free to pass in my thread with any questions, im sure you are gonna love it. Peace |

If I recall correctly that prefluffed bagged coco is expensive as all fuck. If you got the cash, id assume its just fine.
Good Luck |

I get the Sunshine brand (same people who make Promix) and its a good size particle, I amend it with perlite 60% coco 40% perlite. I filled about 80+ 10" square net pots (ebb n' flow) with 4 bags of this "puffed" stuff and cost me about $40.
