Unhappy hydro help?

well this is my first time trying anythign with hydro. i have 7 gal rubbermaid (i think) with 6 in net pots and lava rocks in there. i have some BOGBubble plants that were taken out of soil at about 6 days old and put in the hydro. it was looking great and i come home today and the top new growth is all yellow and really light colored. not really a yellow but a yellow-green.. not dark leaves. and the new leaves are and stringy.

anyone have any ideas of that this could be? maybe not enough nutes? i am using Pure Blend Grow right now. the container says 3 TBSP per Gal and right now i have about 7 TBSP in there because they are still small. Should i give them more nutes?

please help asap! thanks

-Hows your ph? -Im not shure exactly what your doing but make shure your ph co-insides with your growing tekneek. -Yournute concentration sounds about rite for now. -If ya got any beans left startem in hydro. -Also- -Did you wash your rocks and ph balancem? -I take mine down to the mid 5s to hi 5s for a soak and then I let them get saturated with nutes wich are set at 6.5 . -I do this for my perticular needs tho and yours are probably different. -I just wanted to point out that hydro is very "perticular". -The good news is that once you get it down it becomes routeen and pretty simple! -I think ya otta checkyer ph and mabey mix up another bach of nutes. -I hope your not cookin yer roots.. -Keepem under 71! -I hope they come out cool!

yeah, looks like ya need to incr. your nut strength.
Be smart, get yourself a ppm/ph meter and then ya can make and monitor the correct strength.

Unhappy

well i took the whole thing out my cabinet today and looked inside and it was gross. there was all kinds of nutrient buildup and shit all over. i cleaned the inside and just put tap water in there for now.

this was just an attempt at hydro because i was reading someone's thread on OG and they never used anything fancy. no ph meter or anything.

this is just an experimental thing and i dont want to be spending lots of money on this.

btw, im using Pure Blend Grow right now as the fertilizer.

im not liking hydro much...

What's your pH & EC look like... I agree w/ the others comments on lack of Nitrogen. The lighter shade of green signifies the N deficiency... What's your EC? If low, I'd bump it up a little... Cleaning, and rinsing your res ritually on a weekly basis will probably clear up your build up... BTW: what are you using as a medium there?

don't give up just yet DD,i think fish is right about the ph induced lockout and water temp, these are easily remidied, are you using airstone's in the reservoir?they are a must.

Everyone has given you good advice DD. The pic looks like no N and I'm thinkin' the PH is too high (looks like my 1st try at hydro). Ya know, Diggity, I shot from the hip for a while, PH-wise, but I eventually had to bite the bullet and buy both PH and TDS/EC meters. The PH meter is a good investment anyway, even for a soil grower, to check the PH of the water that you're feeding your plants. The TDS/EC meter isn't as crucial if you're good at reading your plants, but to dial it in like Flynn, it's an essential tool if you're gonna do hydro.

Follow the PB directions for your stage of growth--and try 1 tablespoon of white vinegar per gallon of water in your tank if you're not using any other PH down.

It's time for a load.
