That's total rubbish !
I haven't been to Tirah valley and the Tirah Seeds I have were obtained in 2004 from a local friend. They are NOT wild/escaped plants, but cultivated sativas. Jingles, the seeds you have are those I was given in Peshawar.
High Mriko,

Thanks for correcting that. I really thought the tirah was not from the cultivated line there. Sorry, my mistake.

Peace, hhf

Which is which? lol. Veeery excited about these, as others said pics would be great. Cool to hear what the natives do. Such a shame about the police, on a similar note I've seen videos of american troops hassling villagers with plants....hello! It grows wild there.

the hashish/charas is produced by first sieving through fine cloth - the product produced is called "garda" ("dust"). This is then sown up in lightly moistened leather goatskin pouches and kept for up to two years. Once cured, the garda is then moistened again with a little water and hand-pressed to produce classic dark Afghan hashish...
Just for correction, in North Afghanistan they don't use goat skin bags for storing the garda. Good Mazar/Shebarghan stuff doesn't need any sprinkling, neither any cooking, just have to press it.
Tirah garda sometimes require a little water for the resin produced there is drier than that of Northern Afghanistan strains (the fat from leather goat bags helps moisturing the resin).

hiya Mriko - as with all things in that part of the world my answer is simply "if it is wrong, blame it on the Pashtun"... argh, not at all... but in all seriousness: what info I have there is direct from the horse's mouth... it could well be there was some communication breakdown at the time while questions were being asked... as it happens, when we were discussing storage, preparation etc. I had some rather fine Tirah with me, as well as some Mazar... could be the source of the confusion, if you are right on the subject of goatskins... though I could swear that is what the old devil told me, and that the garda will keep for a good two years like that as standard Afghan practice...

just to clarify: the Tirah strain that will be available through BC is indica for sure though - as was that garda I had - real sinus buring, ear and head melting stuff...

All Best,

Ngakpa

hiya Aeric,

Hindu Kush #2 (Yarkhun) produces funky pungent hashish with a lovely mellow warming stone - potent, but above all very enjoyable

Hindu Kush #3 (Laspur) produces the more sedative hash, with a lighter "incense" aroma

with both of these strains the hashish was provided by the growers who supplied the seeds, and a fairly share of returns will be given to growers

the Mazar seeds come from a reputable supplier of quality Mazar-i-Sharif charas; the indica Tirah seeds come via the same gent

as usual this thoroughly imperfect world of ours has conspired to put a few obastacles in the way of making the available as soon as BC would like - but bear with us and they will in good time appear

all best,

Ngakpa

Same source as well, and I remember CLEARLY to ask him again last time I was there about the Mazar/Shebarghan storage. No goatskin bag, but thick plastic bags. so, who got the right one ?
Not necessarily for 2 years. Once, was late Sept/early Oct, I got some Mazar charas which had been harvested in august. stuff was all reddish color.

When I am after good Tirah stuff, I'm thinking about that fruity and energising, almost heart-racing and paranoia inducing hash.

It certainly is recent, no doubt about it. But that's what I was told both last year and this year again.
