F-13 and Potential hobby breeding project - DJ Short and Legends Seeds - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

Thanks to GN and the seedboutique I have my pack of F-13 and I am getting ready to pop these beans and have a little fun.

I have always wanted to do a little breeding for my own hobby stash to play with. I choose F-13 to work with for the work DJ has done with great genetics. I feel I can never hope to to better than to follow in great footsteps.

If I understand correctly F-13 is an F-5 generation of the FLO line and was named for the 13 mother used?

I would like to make seed with my pack for later use. My first question is what would this cross end up being, is an F-6 of FLO?

Secondly I am thinking for the greatest chance of diversity and for the largest amount of seed potential I should let all males and females hang out together . Or am I better off attempting to do some selection from this pack and observing both the males and females before pollinating?

Then again why not do both right? All right thoughts please? I admit to being mildly read in breeding and completely stupid in practice.

I was under the assumption that F-13 was a Flo F4 X'd to that super Blue male used in all the recent crosses. So if you we're to cross F-13 with F-13 you would get F2s' of F-13.

You should be able to experience F2 - like results for sure.

10 beans planted and 9 sprouts sporting nice cotolydens. 90% germ ratio, not to shabby if you ask me. I am really looking forward to seeing some of these in flower. I am guessing around early winter we may have a first look at f-13.

I'm pulling up a chair for this. I'm interested to see how these F2's turn out for you. I have run F13 but did not find a male. I have 20 more to run to try to find a suitable male for some f2 action. I used True Blue to pollinate my F13 so I could always do a male search in that population if I have to. It will take some time for me to get to the next run of F13, so I am very interested in seeing the result of your F2 run. Best of luck.

Well the seedlings are doing well and I am getting excited about this. I am pretty sure I will run all plants into flower and let them pollinate at will.

My feelings are this will give me a potentially large seed stock with wide variety as a backup/fun for later. Furthermore, it will give me a full flower cycle to observe how all specimens grow. Moving forward I will select a single male from the F-13's and run him against one or two F-13 females of choosing.

The plan is to put the the random pollen seeds away for later in case I need to search for some trait. I am planning on trying to use the selected female/male cross at first to look for something fun and special.

Let me caution everyone... I am a complete newbie in the pollination and seed game. I am taking this on as a fun experiment for myself. With that said, everyone chime in and let me here your thoughts.
