what is the problem its been 2 weeks and they are is small styrofoam cups.

here is a pic. They are still turning yellow even though I have cut the brown spots off and am letteting it dry out because of over watering.

They are in a 4 foot trunk with plenty of ventilation, 80 degrees
in 12 ounce cups 2 weeks old in plain soil for seedlings no nutes. II gave them a very small dose seaweed extract when I saw signs of yellow and brown spots but it didnt do shit for these youngins.

I had this problem with about 20 seedlings they started off really healthy and then they went yellow growth litteraly stopped and they died, r the yellow leaves goin brittle? i put it down to the potting compost i used, i didnt have any problems wen i changed the soil but i stll dont kno wot actually caused it, i thought maybe magnesium or calcium????

I generally water soil based seedlings/plants by weight of the container. Water 'em when they go light.

Water is heavy and weighs in @
1 Liter = 1,000 Grams
(or 2.20.... Pounds)

Constantly too wet of soil equals not enough oxygen to the root system.

Perlite is your buddy when it comes to loosening up/aerating potting soils.
I have found that very few mixes are suitable out of the bag for seedlings as many tend to compact with repeated waterings.

I use a branded product called "Scotts Potting Soil For Seed Starting" and mix that 50/50 with perlite and as a result have happy plant feet with that particular seedling mix. Its ingredients are Peat, Perlite and a weak, seedling strength starter fertilizer incorporated into the product.
Good Luck with your grow, you've got some nice genetics to play with.

But maybe i should let them get bon dry and put them in a richer soil with tons of perlite.

Looks like over or under water, maybe your ph. I doubt it's mag. or cal. they'er to young to demand that much. If they have been over watered to many times it may have washed out a lot of the nitro. in the soil. So maybe a little N. would help. When I mix for seeds I cut the soil with perlite so it's very light, I also make a shitload of holes in the bottoms of my cups for drainage this way no matter how much water they get they will only hold what they need the rest runs out. Plus all the air it holds at the same time... they love it. Also useing city water keep an eye on the ph man does it fluxuate. good luck wit'em !

Glad to hear that drying them out is showing improvement. Do you have holes for drainage in those styro cups? Looks like a muddy soil (note the brown stained perlite) and it may hold too much water even if you have drainage holes. Your babies are damping off. We have that around here where fog is frequent during the late summer and early fall. They aren't transpiring moisture correctly. Get a fan on them if you don't have one. I usually plant way more then necessary this time of year and let Mother Nature run her course.
