2 stellar Deep Chunk children
Here's a sneal peak at some amazingly exotic and wonderful weed.
Blockhead x Deep Chunk, or "Head Banger" Krush x Deep Chunk, or "K Chunk" Here's a pic of a nice Head Banger bud, and in the pipe is a bud of K Chunk. The bud on the right in the pic is the Daddy of these two, Tom Hill's Deep Chunk. I've been very fortunate thanks to the kindness of friends to be test growing these. I've been growing Deep Chunk for a little less than a year now, and, to smoke it is to love it... I have lots of pics of Head Banger and K Chunk at various stages of growth, and I'll post more later, but my computer uploads pics very slowly, and I don't have time now for that. Plenty of time later on, if anyone is interested. First, though, let me introduce you to these two fantastic new strains. My favorite is K Chunk. I'll start with Head Banger. Head Banger (Blockhead x DC) has a mild smell in flowering and is subtle, not overpowering. The flavor is spicy, not quite cinnamon, not quite cardamon... I'm not very good at describing flavors. I like it very much - even more than the flavor of K Chunk... It's smooth and delicious. I've just begun smoking it, and I hope and expect that flavor will deepen with a good long cure. That's a Head Banger bud on the left. (sorry, it's not in good focus there, but there is another pic, almost like this one, where the Head Banger is in a little better focus, in my gallery, if you want to see that). Head Banger is the perfect name for this weed. It hits you right in the head and is felt mostly in the head. Mine takes 12 weeks to flower, though it could be taken a week, maybe even more sooner... This is a very potent buzz. It comes on at a moderate pace, not to fast, not too strong. My first inhale though gave me goose bumps on my arm as I appreciated that delicious flavor for the first time. It was more than I was expecting, because the smell is less intense (or maybe I just can't tell, as I have several flowering strains and a smelly habitat at this point!). This is great day-time herb. Its potent and energizing with no burn out. Tastes good. The temptation is to smoke more than you need, because of the moderate rate the buzz overtakes you. After my second bowl though, I knew to stop (a smaller bowl - not that big pipe in this pic, LOL). I'm very, very buzzed on it from two bowls, and that high will remain intense for at least a couple hours. A repeat bowl later on, will renew this intensity, or take it to a higher level. I love this stuff and could smoke it all the time because of the taste. Mmmmm good. But for my favorite. OMG, I think I'm the first person to have grown and smoked this amazing herb, and, frankly, I feel something like what I imagine the Grimm Brothers felt like when they discovered C99 - only, wow, this is WAY better than that (not to denigrate the wonderful C99 in any way; I've grown it and love it too). The parents: the daddy is DC, of course, and the mother is a very famous clone-only strain, Krush, which is a very unusual sativa plant of incredible potency and unique taste, also of Afghani origins, like DC itself. Frankly, DC is one of the strongest herbs at the end of the mj spectrum, and Krush is definitely one of the strongest and the bestest (LOL) at the sativa end of the spectrum. I've only smoke a little of it, and I'm a huge fan of it. Thanks to the kindness and persistence of some Canadian friends, I find myself excitedly growing it now too for the first time. So far I only germinated 8 K Chunk seeds. Most of them resembled Deep Chunk in appearance, but one girl, the rarer phenotype (if I can generalize at all based on such a small sample of seeds I've grown at this point) is a Krush-like phenotype. In fact, I'm growing a K Chunk and some Krush side by side right now. I'll put some pics up later, if folks are interested. They're not quite two weeks into flower. They look so identical, that I can't tell the Krush from the K Chunk (or Special K Chunk, as I fondly have named this plant, now represented by a permanent mother in my garden of minimoms). The taste of the Special K is actually different, and less desirable to me than the DC phenotype, or what I think is the more common phenotype one will get from these seeds. That has a startling coffee-like almost diesel(I don't mean lemon-fruity, I mean, Mr. Clean ammonia type smell that coats your tongue and lingers, giving you the sensation afterwards of having tasted or smelled some funky petroleum product...). This is worth growing alone for that taste! And the high will not dissapoint. From such absolute knock-em dead parents as Krush and Deep Chunk, one expects amazing offspring, and I am not disappointed. The DC phenotype has a powerful body high to it, very similar to DC, and a potent head high that will make you grab onto your seat handles if you smoke too much. It gets debilitating and can leave you looking stupid, with a body high that feels likes you're floating in a polymer-filled isolation tank and a case of the munchies that will have you salivating over dog food... ha, ha.. Now, the plant that I kept for a mother is the OTHER phenotype. So what does that tell you? The latter is amazing. But the Krush or Special K phenotype of K Chunk is better. It's not as tasty. I have absolutely no explanation for how DIFFERENT it tastes!??? (I just think that tastes and flavors are very genetically complex...) It's not as strong, unique or remarkable in taste. Kind of sweet, kind of spicy, but mild.... hints of complex flavors that I'm not good at naming... But the high is really where it's at here. It's like the DC phenotype, only DOESN'T BURN YOU OUT at the end!!! Woohooo! It doesn't have as much body high to it, but plenty to give most folks happy. The head high is Krush like... The Krush high is in now way dimished or lacking in any clarity or diluted in any way by body high, for me anyway.... so Special K Chunk, is Krush like, but not quite Krush.... well that "not quite" is actually a pretty big step. This is magnificent weed. It grows very fast like the mom, Krush (unlike the dad, DC, which is slow growing and a bit finicky). K Chunk is much, much easier and faster to grow than DC. It has more punch in the head, not as much body... as DC... But you won't be asleep several hours after you smoke it either... It does give me the munchies also, but, thankfully, not nearly as intense as the DC pheno. So I can risk smoking alot more of it without losing control in pig-out munchfests. I expect I'll always have some Sp K Chunk in a jar. I have some in flower now... I'm actually almost out of it, and as a consequence, have several more clones coming along too. Well, I'll be happy to put up pics of Head Banger or K Chunk or anything else discussed above, if people are interested... but it will be a few days till I have time for that. In the meantime, I think this little report promises well for all those folks out there doing test grows of new strains, children of the amazing Deep Chunk. If you're doing one of those test grows, don't worry, you are definitely not wasting your time, but will no doubt end up with some mouth-watering connosseur herb, like I did.

hello TW
![]() Seems we have a very mutual friend.. I believe the KChunk you are growing were those that Bub made with Krush x DC, I'm not sure if he used 1 or more males.. I also made the same cross, before i knew Buba had did his own, but with a dif father.. I believe you have gotten some of those beans aswell.. I hope there's not too much confusion but the one I've made have picked up the name 'Deep Krush' before i realized you guys had decided on calling em Kchunk.. Ephedrone has the start of a test grow in the test grow section for my beans, and there's many more out there.. Now, I'm not 100% sure, but if those Headbangers came from me I think that cross is actualy Deep Chunk x Blockhead.. done with a super frosty blockhead male of mine in a similar project to my DC project jus smaller.. there weren't many of those made but i still have the BH male and DC fem so it's remakable.. I have a picture of one of the ChunkHead (again with the dif names, lol), actualy, here's 4 pics... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm glad you are enjoying all of them and thank you so much for all the info on them so far.. I look forward to yer progress.. Last edited by beancounter; 05-10-2007 at 05:37 AM.. |

glad u enjoyed them! yes it does sound like we all have a mutual friend! and a good one indeed! the Krush x DC is one of the few hybrids that I found amazing, that I diddnt release, as per my word to the parent owner of krush. Im glad our friend got some back to you! and Im glad you find it as a keeper. Id love to see asmany pics as you have.. I remember the paerents, and some offspring quite distinctly. Id love to see more comparison! thank you for a great, and detailed report, and thank you for yer time! Be well! bub & HTC.

Those are really gorgeous buds, beancounter.
Mine didn't get nearly so purple - but I've had constant heat problems in my flower room. I think that's fixed now, so I'm really looking forward to seeing some deep purple in the current batch of Deep Chunk and K Chunk I've got on the way. But here are a few more pics of K Chunk, and one with K Chunk and Krush side by side, just starting 12/12; they look identical at this point... yours looks like the DC phenotype. Regardless, I'll bet that stuff rocks! Thanks again, ya'll, for your excellent breeding work and generosity! |
