Cool stories anyone has about the 60's/70's/80's?
Found some threads that pertained to these eras, but none that actually had stories in 'em..
So, any of you old timers have any cool stories to share with the younger generation who didnt get to expierence those times, whether it be LSD, marijuana, coke, etc etc? Last edited by MOSH; 05-07-2007 at 11:49 PM.. |

I once bought a hot pink, Gotcha rashguard-type neoprene shirt, and wore it with jeans and stuff. The bizarre thing is people actually thought it was cool...

Sorry, drug use isn't condoned here and would take away from Cannabis, maybe make it look bad associated with those stories.
If you want a Cannabis story tho.... The country I'm from in South America used to have huge plantations of a variety of awesome heirlooms. A couple states in the northeast in particular were known for some awesome herbs. Some were dark red buds with orange hairs, some were a lighter green and brown mix and some were straight brown spears. The bud was abundant in most of the states, sometimes more expensive than the regular brown weed ($100 = 100 grams) usually double that, but it was well worth it. Kind of like a difference between Mexican shwag and Colombian gold.. The varieties went by the names Cabrobro, Manga Rosa, hibrido to name a few (I believe BSC and Zamalito are reviving some of these, breeders choice?)These were the heady varieties which were not always available, but it was all kinda similar, red sativas, usually or some similar spicey hazey redddish brown bud. This was 1987 Well, the cops really tightened down the flow at one point thanks to the USA/DEA in full force trying to strong arm the latin cannabis producers, with huge permanent road blocks on the few connecting roads and raids on farms to burn the plants, and raids on international ships in our waters. In November of 1987 an Indonesian ship packed with 15,000, five-gallon paint cans or "latas" packed full of some exotic Indonesian herb was in transit to the USA, in local waters, on a ship called the "Solana Star" was apparently being the target of some joint DEA/US bust. and the crew proceeded to dump their entire cargo right off the coast of Rio, when they were tipped off. Everyone split except the cook who was jailed, poor guy. Needless to say there were many many happy surfers and fisherman, and like us, elated stoners who found these "latas".They kept appearing for days, and one of our friends "Bernie" found one by his house one day, on the rocks, that was a good Year, and that bud lasted for months. People would find the cans floating for weeks at sea, some with barnacles growing on them. Each contained approximately 2 kilos (maybe the cans were smaller than 5 gal.) Being from Indonesia, the inside bud has bits of Indonesian Newspaper (asian at least) and further pointed to it's origin. We had never seen anything similar to this variety before and probably some of the finest available at the time. It was so much tastier and stronger than what we were used to that we began calling the bud "veneno da lata" or "canned poison" and it became a legend, before we even knew where it came from. Nowadays it's common folklore in Rio and the rest of the big cities, everyone knows the story and a chick singer there even wrote a song about Rio called "Veneno da lata" in tribute to the legendary bud in those cans.... Man I wish I had kept the seeds. Amazing spicey, fruity hazey flavor and the high was psychedelic. Once in a lifetime thing... "Da lata" is sometimes used to allude to something as being very good or good quality,; strong Last edited by Jack Crevalle; 05-08-2007 at 12:57 AM.. |

Good story Jack, that's what I'm looking for... Some of those crazy stories (like "The Legend of Panama Red") ..Very interesting read... I wished I lived in those times so bad, but unfortunately I was born in '85 and never got to expierence it..
p.s. Let's keep this thread clean here (aka not flooding it with irrelavant posts and insults).. |

Well, no one has any cool old school stories?
Shilllllll Here goes another: I've had friends busted in third world countries many times as have many here, for smoking herb and having it on them. I have also been present at a few busts and had to pay, but some stories my friends went through when younger were ridiculous. Some punishments included: Cops making them eat all the bud (200 grams) One spent the night in a jail cell in underwear. (50 grams) Another had to grab a cadaver hand they kept in the freezer (interrogation) (joint) a couple were shocked with a wet towel/car battery (torture/interrogation) (20 grams) a few were let off with a call to the parents and a trip to the station (joint) a couple arrested by cops near highschool, then taken to school to be expelled (after classes were over!) (roach) 4 friends locked in the trunk of a hot cop truck for 3 hours crammed together after getting pulled over with machine guns in their face by undercover agents, then had to go home and come up with cash to give to the harasing LEO (500 grams) Yeah, third world countries are also way fucked up towards Cannabis, thanks to their big brothers from the anglo north who fund and condone the drug war, and us peaceful Cannabis lovers are the ones who take the heat and humiliation the most, not the real criminals.. |

I remember the late 60's and some of my brothers friends being picked up by local police and locked in car trunks and driven around for a few hours or given "haircuts'. That was in rural pennsylvania. Their only crime was long hair. My HS history teacher who was also the football coach would pick on the one kid in my class with long hair every day.
When i moved to NJ in the early 70's it was much better. Drugs seemed to just explode. There was an old foundation next to my HS which we called the pot pit and every morning there would be about 30 kids smoking pot before school. You could get an oz for 15.00 some jamaican for 20 and colombian gold for 25.00 which we thought was outragious. LOL Everything seemed very cool. The music was great and i remember swimming once at an old resevoir and finding a wallet. I called the owner who lived in another town who came and picked it up. He gave me like 10.00 reward and after he left, he called me back and asked if i got high. I said yes and he met me again and gave me half a nepalese temple ball. There was an elusive strain called ciba ciba which was probably laced with PCP or something. I smoked it once while working and peoples faces were melting. There used to be some nice blonde and black hash available also for about 15.00 a gram.

"Boy, you look like you high, look you eyes, you look like you been walkin' on glass!" It was the funniest shit ever, but I'd get pissed nonetheless. Ignorant motherf@cker- I knew prejudice against Cannabis was bullshit, even that young. Quote:
