Hey Red! Glad to see you 'round these parts. Unfortunately I haven't gotten to try this one yet. Hopefully I'll have some this fall.

Hi red, good to see you.
I have to say, you are in a mightily privileged position, having the cream of the colombian genepool to enjoy smoking and growing, being in Colombia, you are going to be able to experience those genes at their full potential, having the perfect conditions for them to fully express their genes. For this reason, it is gonna be kinda tricky to compare the BC Colombians to what you have available in Colombia. A Colombian Gold, Colombian Black or Punto Rojo grown in it's natural envronment in Colombia is almost certainly going to be a better expression of those genes than a Gold, Black or Rojo grown somewhere else in a less suitable environment. Of course, one very good way to evaluate the BC Colombian lines would be to grow them in Colombia alongside the native lines, so maybe when red has gotten relocated and is all set up to be able to grow again BC could provide him with the seeds to do such a side-by-side, it would allow us all to see those BC genes in their full glory, Now, I realise that many of the folks who are interested in the BC lines will be growing them indoors under lights. This obviously means that there is a lot of scope for there being significant difference between the buds grown outdoors in Colombia and those grown indoors, so to see them grown outdoors is only a partial guide to how well they will grow for the average grower who doesn't have access to the perfect natural environment. Of course, some Colombian strains may do very well indoors, the old BSC Colombian Gold line I have works very well indoors under lights, it's expression of it's genes is good enough indoors that the taste and effect are similar enough to the original Colombian-grown Golds that it pleases all who have smoked it. On the other hand, I have grown other sativas from Mexico and Asia that didn't work too well indoors. Therefore I do think that it would be great to see some indoor test grows of the BC lines too, just to give us indoor folks an idea of the indoor potential of these genes. |

Cheers HHF.
I have a lot of interest in Colombian lines, as I do in all exotic sativas. Having had such positive and rewarding experiences with one particular cultivar i am keen to experience some more. When I have a new garden I will definitely be filling it with some pure sativas and wil lfindroom for some Colombians for sure. It is refreshing to see seedlines being fully evaluated by ordinary folks. A couple of lines of description and a photo is all fine and well but it is much better to see full grow reports by ordinary folks. Often you see incredible photos of huge colas dripping with resin and you forget that that plant was grown in a professional setup with great skill, it doesn't give a true impression of what the average grower with a modest setup and basic skills can achieve from the genetics. |

Really I was just wondering if zamlito had any personal experience with these Colombian strains. I know they grow much different here then indoors.

Hey Red soryy I didn't check this forum yet today. I haven't seen or tried the Gold but I've personally seen the colombian black and PR growing and tried them from test grows of the original p1's on my trip to Brazil. The Black can definitely hold a candle to any other smoke I've come in contact with and is quite unique from the other colombians I've seen. The PR was also very nice but I think I personally prefer the Black.

Hey Z, good to see you. I've run up on a few new interesting "samples" from the western coast. It seems some years are better then others due to weather changes. The Santa Marta Golds I have don't grow out as well here (Andina) as from their point of origin (the sample was better then my harvest) but they still have that warm happy Colombian high.I'm still looking for that "black" down here but other that a rumor I've heard nothing. There's always a shit load of "mota" around though and you can get some nice reds, golds and purples all from the same clump(1,000gs). Haven't seen any Punto Rojo worth a shit since 05 but like I say the quality of different strains here tends to vary season to season.
