There is many 'purple' Colombians...it may be a component of Haze, no one knows for sure, then that leads to many other questions..where, which, etc

Many feel the Purple phenotype of Haze to be the Colombian expression, im not sure. Just do not know exactly what is in that line. The flavours of the Purple Haze phenotype ive not personally found in other Colombians.

Both 'purple' and 'chocolate' would be trade names, i suspect for export or commercial herb. These are not names used by farmers in the mountains, these are names used by vendors for commercial stocks, usually being sold to non Colombians as i understand it.

There is a lot of purple traits and colours of all tones in the Colombian lines a amazing variety to be found.

Peace, hhf

In Brazil we obtained a cutting and some seeds of a variety referred to as a chocolate sativa from an woman whose husband was a well reputed member of the paraguaian mafia. They told us this variety was actually a colombian Chiba that they'd been growing in paraguai for quite some time.

That's interesting, thanks! I had some herb back in the 70's that was called Chiba but I don't know what that means. Can you fill me in? A friend of mine has Chocolate Colombian but when I have asked about it I didn't really get much of an answer. Not that I remember anyway, LOL. It must be something special. Do you still have it?????

Note from Humito

Quote:
In the Aldous '06 collections, he also found an unknown number of what the locals called FUDGE, a chocolate-like, over-resinated type that COULD very well be the CHIBA of legend, although what I had in the 70's was really black.
And a addition to the purple Colombian info..

Quote:
Aldous also reported they do actually know Purple Col, as indeed Purple Col. - it's not just a random combo from a red or black line. Or a 'trade' name, there is a variety there. Aldous '06 collection contained a purple Colombian. More info is needed such as the exact climate where it thrives. We are working on it.
Peace, hhf

I really don't know what chiba means or is a reference to. I will ask around for you.

Unfortunately in brazil it takes quite a bit of work to find the strains in their pure form. Unfortunately in brazil almost any bricked seeds you obtain while more than likely is descended of the cultivar that the name originated from probably is no longer pure. Hybridization is common and the afterward the strain will retains the original name. To get the strains pure you almost always have to get it direct from the grower and over the last ten years growers have gone very far underground and are extremely secretive. Fortunately the old native guarani woman who gave us the cutting and the seeds really appreciated the strain and refused to hyrbidize it when growing it for her own personal stash. I couldn't meet her in person. In order for luiz to be permitted into the compound an armed escort assigned by the mafia was required. These were obviously very sketchy people.

We do still have seeds and we will try to make them available one way or the other either as an accession or as unbred freebies.

well, here's a wild guess: "chiba" sounds like a castellanization of the word "shiva." they don't have the "sh" sound in spanish, and "ch" is the next closest. likewise 'v' in spanish, depending on which region we're talking about, is pronounced like a 'b'.

like i said, a wild guess but i actually think i might be right on this one.

That's what I always assumed for chiva which is mexican slang for tar heroin and sometimes opium. Maybe you're right though.
