Cold Budding?

Hey guys i been a follow of Dj work for a while now i have to say he probably my favorite breeder. My question is dj strains is i know on most purple strain they only turn purple if the temps are cool enough. Is this the same with dj's strains or are they naturally purpleish? Is it just certain pheno's?

And last but not least which strain will produce the deepest purple's with the greatest potencies.

BTY i know that dj work are not actually part of the purple family (personally ive had only 2 strain of purple that were any good) but they do produce deep purple colors and to be honest that all you really need. lol

Also i apoligize for being another one of the PURPLE DUDES!! as i call them but when all my buddies want is that bag appeal and to gloat about smokeing somethign purple what are you gonna do?

As almost all of DJ';s work contains purple thai genes, you are always pretty likely to get at least one purple/blue pheno out of a pack. The most deeply purple plant Ive seen from DJ's stock would probably be the F13/Flo family line. Heres some great pics from gentlemanfarmer and Elevatorman that shows what Im talking about.

Gentle's F13

EM's Flo

I think that you will be very satisfied with whatever you pick from DJ. I know I am Take care'

Since i know dj has the best i would rather pick something from his line then lets say GDP or some shit like that.

Do you know if it takes longer to flower the purple pheno's?

Blunted22 - no, the purple ones are usually faster in my experience - with Flo at least. The purple pheno pictured finishes at 8 weeks exactly - the green pheno (which still has purple highlights, which sadly fade on drying), finishes at nine weeks, but gets much bigger. They're both incredible though - out of four keeper females from one pack, three are purple. I also got two keeper males, one green and one purple from the same pack. Bargain, IMO...

f13 is a mix of a special selection #13 flo mom from a fairly recent grow and the stud true blueberry male that has been skeetin on everything dj short related lately.

i found this interesting that f13 contains blueberry genes.. just makes me realize i need to get the dj original flo for a fun comparo.

i ran dutch passions flo just like elevator and man it is bomb stuff! i bet dj's own version is REALLY REALLY special!

Furthermore, Also and Too

The F13 i have outdoors have maroon stiped pre-flowers. I Remember the dp flo as having more purple than reddish. ...the temps have been above 65 f incessantly in my area. I Recommend P. Thai based strains Highly as Guerilla1o18 did aswell...we kid you not!

My experance with genetic color potential being expreced to the fullest...

First i would like to thank guerilla1018 for the complament of useing my girl and my gardening as an example for such a important question as the one blunted posed. And Blunted, purple... or other color shades of such intreage should be sout after, and an attemp should be made to allow the fullest expretion one can bring out. For me atleast the joyfull experance of "dusted wine" quality cannabis starts with the "bag apeal" or jar apeal for those of us that treat our fruits with proper care. So to be a purp freak is nothing to be sorriful for. the idea of low temp's for purp is a true one. Howerver nearly all cannabis with have some purp if exposed to lower than ideal temps, yours and my toes and fingers do the same. A strain who is geneticly purp such as most F-13 and Flo phenos will express some level of purp with cold or warm temps. The way to bring out the max and true purp shades in such a gem is found in the Flush and prior to then fulsh the feeding what and when. N is needed in the early flowering growth at nearly the rate needed in veg, lower the N sharply about the time the streach stops and the flower formation has progresed passed "popcorn nugs" into acual NUGS.... The purp to some degree is always there, the heavy green just "masks" it. Ph is important in controling what your girls can intake, water and feeding Ph closer to 7 alowes most nutriants to be used, however opens the door wide for N intake, 6.0-6.4 closer the door a bit on N intake and opens it wider for that all so good P & K along with there corasponding macro's. lowering the water and feeding Ph below the 6.0 mark starts to resrict the N uptake. this is desired but should be held off till after the midway point at soonest. and one needs to be sure they have near nutral Ph 7 soil if they start to dip the liquid Ph levels in a soil grow. Spag peatmoss can be washed and the run off colected for a organtic Ph lower aditive, also citrus extracts. the goal is to resrict the N intake as ripening aproches as to induse fall like end of life changes, as the pigment lowers in shade the purp or red or what ever the underlineing desired color is becomes more and more overwelming. The norm for Flushing is 7-14 days, but if you have thought ahead and provided a nice balenced but slightly low organtic supply in the soil a flush of 3 weeks can be done with under 10% yeild loss, that is more than made up for in the quality. the pic that guerilla1018 posted of my F13 Plant #07 was flushed for nearly a month with Ph lowered water only, and a weekly "3 X soil mass" water flush (3 gal water for each gal soil) the cooler side of prime temps can help, but stick to trying to make the "spred" from day to night temps wider, don't freeze the poor girls, and keep in mind that matabalism and cell devition are driectly related to temps, both in the photo time and the night. the "DJ purp" I have found is best expresed with flush and proper feeding at the proper times, It heirs from the gene pool of rather tropic background, it's always there, you just need to remove the green to see it. Grow for all the right reasons, Peace. GF

GK shortly after Flush cycle started:

F13 plant #11 cured 4 months:

F-13 #07 dried cured 4 months:

F-13 #07 at her death bed, a day of mixed emotion:

F-13 #07 at 56 days flowering if i remeber of the top of my head:

(By the way the pic above has been nominated for POM for march, and remeber you only mater if you VOTE... so says the polititions)
