Need a couple of pointers
I think this is my first post here:
Seems like a great forum, I've been learning a lot of interesting things from reading here.I will be growing some Lowryder #2(autoflowering: Lowryder x Santa maria) I will be growing them on my balcony in cocos. The cocos I will use is B'cuzz bounce. I will be watering by hand. The nutes will be Atamis: B'cuzz Cocos A & B The things I havent been able to figure out is what sizes of pots I should use, before and after transplanting(keep in mind these babies start flowering after 2 weeks) Should I mix in perlite in the cocos? They will be harvested in week 9 or 10 from seed. Last edited by Nast; 03-31-2007 at 11:27 PM.. |

I'm sorry for bumping this but I'm a bit in a hurry as I've sprouted the seeds some days ago and need to get some pots..
If I rephrase my question: when I grow in coccos, how large pots do I need when the plant will only grow for 9 weeks from seed without it becoming root-bound? |

1 gallon would be the standard, if watering properly they could be started in that. No perlite. Rootbinding isn't as much of an issue in coco, partly because of the air/water ratio, infact it would be helpful to produse more roots as quickly as possible because of the limited veg time, so use a supplement like Rhizotonic or other root stimulator. Make sure only to water when they need it at first, until they have plenty of roots, then water as u wish. If the pots are exposed to rain it may wash away some of your nutes so take heed. Just some ideas/opinions. Goodluck.

I already put them in 1/2liter pots and I used about 1/4 of perlite
I couldn't wait any longer for a responce in the thread, and thats what I've been using when growing in soil. When should I repot unto 1gallon pots? Should I use perlite in my final mix too? Now that I have them planted in that from the beginning I mean. |

Just let the roots grow into the 1/2 liter pot before you transplant, it will make it easier to do and harder to break the roots. you dont need to put perlite in your coco at all, but some do anyway so I guess its up to you.
Peace;-) |

yeah no perlit needed in coco, in fact it's seems a bit easier to deal with when it's just pure coco. but it's up to you. i just wanted to say, ideally you should transplant into the 1 gallon pot a few days before you begin 12/12. so the plant can make the most of the extra space.

They are autoflowering, so they wont go into 12/12...

Yep that's why I said put em in 1 gallon. Since u already put em in 1/2 liter pots I would say let em be unless they outgrow the pot before autoflowering, then do as holygong said.
