Yes, sir! This generation was actually selected indoors. I recommend using a mixed spectrum for the flowering preferrably with an ultra cool bulb for the halide. The light companies don't want you to know that you can actually use a halide bulb in sodium ballasts.

But as Zam says we would recomend the mixed spectrum lighting for all of the Landrace and pure Sativa derived lies. Peace, hhf |

Yeah that would be ideal but a neutral or standard halide along with a standard hps will work quite well also.
Spider, looking good |

Zam are you sure you can just run a metal halide off a hps ballast?
Cause I always heard that made the bulbs burn out hella faster. |

Someone recently gave me a high times article that said you could use both in an hps and I put that together with the fact that my switchable ballast only has one capacitor one transformer and an ignitor. I have more unused ballasts than I care to admit so I've never had to do that myself. All a switchable ballast does is disconnect the ignitor so I'm guesing the reason the bulbs wear out faster is because halide bulbs contain their own ignitor which is also already in an hps ballast. If you cut the wires coming from the ignitor and put wire nuts on the loose ends you will have a mh ballast. Then just reattach the wires you cut with wire nuts to make it an hps again.

Really, damn? Well I should finish that micro cab then (2.5 sq ft). I built a small air cooled hood that has a 150w hps on one side, was gonna put a 70w hps on the other side, but since it doesn't have an ignitor in the 70w ballast maybe I could just run MH like you said, for a mixed spectrum mini cab, haha. It'll be a long time before I could do indoors though. Still though, very interesting.
Thanks for the tip, Z |
