First Grow CFLs Bagseed
This is my first attempt at growing a plant and will hopefully, after the harvest, will support my habit for awhile. I am growing just one plant right now out of some bagseed. Here is my setup:
I am using Miracle Grow moisture control soil 45w Spiral CFL (1) (Primary Flowering) 2900 Lumens output 2700K Color Temperature 23w Spiral CFL (2) 2000 Lumens output each 2700K Color Temperature 45w Spiral CFL (1) (Primary Vegetative) 2900 Lumens output 6500K Color Temperature 26w Spiral CFL (2) 1600 Lumens output each 6500K Color Temperature I am using 5 seperate lights at all times I use the 2 23w CFLs and the 2 26w CFLs at all times and then choose the 45w that corresponds with the photoperiod I am in. I use this light fixture which I made out of 5 clamp shop lights by welding them together to form a surround of light for the plant. And for nutrients I am using Expert Gardener All Purpose Plant Food (Vegetative) NPK = 24-8-16 Expert Gardener Bloom Burst Plant Food (Flowering) NPK = 10-52-10 |

Lookin good!
That bagseed must be something good also! Keep the lights close as hell and you will be rewarded.. CFL's are some good lights used very close to plants! Check my gallery and you'll fine CFL buds of DANK!!!!! |

What qualities can you see in the pictures that allow you to make the assumption that this bagseed is good? I am trying to get a better idea of what kind of qualities this bud will have.

Looks like u topped the plant? and its responding well with those tops being evened out, nice job. Hope its a lady for you .Only way to really tell wether it will be a good plant is to observe it really , how it grows etc, and if a lady how it finishes in flower.. the final smoke, but all observations u make u can apply to your next grows I agree with Lougrew that those cfl's work good up close ,as long as u can keep your area cool enough and have some air circulating, preferably some circulating over the plants( u have a fan blowing over it?, if not try to get one , this will help strengthen stems n keep the plant cooler if u have then Also with cfl's if u gonna flower with them , i am of the opinion that training is key , keeping them short by topping (which it looks like u have done ) or LST (low stress training) as the lights dont have as good a distance range of light as the Hid lamps.. of course i see you have the lights surrounding your plant which prob means u can be looser in training and grow taller , but when u come to growing more at once u may find more lights being placed above your plants than at side .or using more lights hehe.. which means keeping things cool again. Good luck with the grow ![]() That doesnt mean to say u have to train of course u cld grow tall n surround plants like you are doing with the lights, its a choice/preferrence i guess, just that i myself go the training n low profile route, i see others use cfl well in tree grows with their placement.. so enough rambling from me..

Thanks for the encouraging words and help kooki and longrew, the tips are a little crispy but with no true ill affects, they just grew into the light at night and I didn't catch it until I woke up that morning. Heat hasn't really been a problem yet except when they grow into the lights but I am designing a way to mount computer fans to places where there is empty space between the reflectors though. Yes I plan on flowering with the CFLs, in fact I started the 12/12 march 18th. I have topped the plant and now the seperate colas are all within an inch of each other. I think I may have 4-5 promising tops. The plant took very well to the topping and has stayed very low it has been 5 weeks and the plant is still only 9 inches tall, I am surprised being a new grower that I was able to keep the plant this short, but I have always left the lights within an inch or two of the plant.
And these are the most current pictures of the plant. Side: And Top: |

Looks like a indica sativa hybrid to me.
It's really leafy and squat/bushy like a indica but the pointy leaves remind me of sativa. Very good genetics for bag seed btw... best looking 1 seen in awhile |

Yeah , Ive been looking at cannabis potency articals and the plant meets most of the criteria to be a hard hitter. Its hard to tell in the picture but the plant has very small and thin fan leafs, has a great aroma, and is a very deep lush green. For bagseed I really think I found a winner. Maybe a good canndate for a mother plant for clones!!!
