looking for more potency

I’m looking to see what people are doing to get all potency out of their beans that they have bought. I mean we are all looking for the strongest herb that we can get. Are you finding that soil is better than Hydro or the other way around? What nutes have you founds works best.

Growing in coco would help for one

This question would better suit the general growers section imo =]

i say whichever medium you can keep the plant healthiest in will yield you the most potency.

nothing really matters other than keeping the plant in optimal health.. and some people can do that a lot better in soil.. some hydro just works for them.

neither is going to show a huge jump in potency vs. the other unless the plants were stressed, stunted, or were just generally in worse health.

if you find that you grew apparently healthy plants and have some understanding of feeding plants (as in you know not to over do it with ferts..) and your harvested bud was less than you expected as far as potency.. its probably the genes.

genes are such a huge, huge factor its really the only thing that matters once you kinda 'get' the whole growing routine.

genetics is the biggest factor when trying to increase yield. Once you can grow without stressing the girls you will benefit most from buying/aquiring proper genetics.

You usually sacrifice yeild in the quest for potency but look for the crosses that will give the best of both worlds.

i find temperature is a factor in the potency of my buds, the summer grown WW is never as potent as the winter grown ww, i find that the temp in the last 4 weeks of 12/12, has a lot of effect on the potential potency of the finished buds.

That is interesting GM. Why do you think that is?

well the only visible difference is the trichome coverage, i find that buds that had cooler temps in the last weeks before harvest, tend to have more trichomes, it can look like fur, lol. with the temps going from 18° to 25° or the temps going from 24° to 32° makes a noticeable difference to the potency in my experience. ideally one has an ac in summer which stops the temps going so high. on the other hand i find my yields better in the spring and summer with the higher temps, then in winter. so it's a trade off in the end. that's what's so cool about sealed grows, you can keep the climate perfectly controled as you have to add AC and a dehumidifier.

dont looka t media or fertilizer to get potency. If the beans you got are not potent the media and food wont make a difference. potency is in the resin its self look at the glands through a 30x microscope to see when ripe the longer you leave them the more potent it becomes look to get all amber trics it will be a harsh smoke but stronger. DJ Short has a section on peek harvest time for flavour and potency explaining that you can play with early and late sativas and Indicas of same strain to get a mellow day smoke and a couchlock night nurse>
