What Can I Expect After 15+ Years?
I think the last time that I fired one up was about 16 years ago.
I think that the twinges of paranoia that I got at that time made me shelve it. Being a really bright guy, I then took a liking to alcohol. To the point where I am now in AA. Looking back, the gentle weed was soooo much more sane as a mind altering vehicle. I am wanting to re-acquaint to my Ol' Friend MJ. But from what I read, the gentle Spleef I left behind is no longer what I can expect today. I gather that folks don't even look at the leaf I was once so accustomed to. I imagine that the much increased price is a product of the much increased potentcy. Anyway...My question is this - Am I in for a shock after such a long hiatus? I just wanna get, ya know, STONED. thanks! |

my suggestion would be to smoke off a pipe first that way you can more easily regulate your intake. I cant say about the potency from 15yrs back I was only 6 then but pot now is usually good and usually potent on my standards, if you have any connects that can get schwag then i would start there if I were in your position, some schwag can be very good and by schwag I mean bricked pot and bricking doesn't affect the potency so I would start with a pipe. And you can always get a hint of how good the weed is and what the high is going to be like by the smell. Skunk is usually stoney, Spicey is usually uppity sativa, peppery is usually very stoney middle eastern, the list goes on and of course there are always exceptions to the smells

Don't ever smoke schwag, that's criminal druglord commodity. Smoking that contributes to death, kidnappings and misery. Not to mention illegal pesticides and foreign material sprayed on the bricks.
There are wonderful varieties of well grown, treated and loved Cannabis in most developed countries like USa, grown by caring, knowleadgeable, and decent people who wouldn't hurt a fly (beneficial fly that is LOL) and grow it for medication and general well being. This "new" herb is usually more expensive ($50 a bag), but well worth it for flavor, potency and peace of mind may even eliminate the paranoia that shwag and the criminals that deal shwag bring to herb IMO Schwag is for highschool parties and to me is lumped into the "drugs" category. Kind bud, or green bud is the healing of the nation. Start with what you are used to, joints, pipe, whatever. Just be careful eating too much or using a water pipe if you never used one or you may get a little light headed and may need to sit down, but that will go away with practice! peace |

Thanks but...
I appreciate the responses but...
I am obviously soooo out of it. A prime example being...what quantity does a "bag" represent?! As I insert my dentures I recall that, in my day, a "bag" would have been preceeded by the word "ounce". How far off am I? I cannot quite see how "Schwag"=criminal. The implication is that all home cultivators favor the bud at the expense of the leaves. Is the difference in the buzz that much? I am hoping to start my home grow soon...just as soon as my seeds arrive. Have been waiting for longer than is comfortable for them to arrive... |

Howdie DaDank
Around here we can get some decent Schwag for $50 (us) and that's for a half oz. But, the better the weed the more it cost. Potentcy has increased from 15 years ago.
As well as the taste. When you grow your own the key is to chop it at just the right time. The more mature you can get her in her cycle the better. You don't want to go too long before the trichs start to die off. I suspect you'll be doing a lot of reading on this forum about growing your own. Feel free to ask questions. People around here are very helpful and have some very good answers and tips.I hope you get your seeds soon. ![]() |

Jack I see what your saying but I don't know if your from america or where but here usually the weed scene is usually mellow even with the rough crowd.
Dank the term bag means quarter now its usually actually(lol) over a quarter for 25 and and even seven for 20, now the thing about buying now is finding multiple dealers because sometimes people have to buy weed blind and it ends up being crappy but mostly the weed now if fairly good indicas. I rarely get sativas in bags probably because the growers found out that the indicas finish faster or they could be landrace indicas that only pop up every once in a while. Sometimes the seeds get lost in the mail one guy wrote about his seeds showing up after a later order had arrived about six months after he ordered them, if you get a letter from customs then you migh have some problems. |

(As a young person, a good rule to remember is to NEVER assume that your reader knows or speaks your same shorthand...) My questions: "...quarter" (WHAT?) "over a quarter (WHAT?)for 25(WHAT?)" "...and even seven (WHAT?) for 20(WHAT?)" Please excuse my stupidity

LOL, this is too funny, you have been away from smoking for a while. LOL
A quarter means quarter ounce you can usually pick up a quarter ounce which is an even seven grams for twenty US dollars, and for twnety fives US dollars you can usually get anywhere from eight grams to nine grams depending on how the seller is and of course how good the weed is. Remember that most of the pot in bricks now is indica so I still suggest you get a pipe to better regulate your stoned ness, the reason why I warn you is because back 15 years ago my understanding is that it was mostly sativa that floated around, now its the other way around, just read up on the two and be prepared for either. You might get freaked out if you expect all weed to be racy saivas and you take two hits and you feel like your sinking into your chair, which is most likely what will happen. You have to report back to us and let us know how it is when you find some weed . Peace, BTW what kind of seeds did you order? |

danke, Dank1!
Your Dankness-
While making me feel very old I appreciate your clarifications. It is really helpful to those of us who fart dust. But my ass aside... I need to pimp you for all the knowledge I can. Master. Indica vs. Sativa for instance. Back when, I was always glad to get what we called "Up Dope", the kind that was good for shooting the shit with your buddies and laughing alot. Was that Sativa? Speaking of money... I'm not rolling in it. So I am somewhat relieved by your clarification regarding costs and quantities. I keep reading about Canadian imports that go for, what, $300.00 an ounce?! Imagining the havoc such costly spleef must cause, I was wondering, "What the f...??!!" Are such prices common, or relatively rare? And, per your last question, I am waiting to meet a Widow from Holland. She's White. Thanks again for your patience. With all the questions I have, I might start to try it! |

Yep the sativa is the uppity type always good for ramblin on for hours with no real point, haha Well 300 a OZ is expensive quite for indoor grown, uncompressed, high quality named genetics, I think that is a little high for indicas but if its a good sativa it may be worth it, but let me say that with a little searching you can find bricked weed that is as god if not better, the best indica I've ever smoked was bricked Afghani stoney to the bone, two hits and your very very stoned, also the best sativa I've ever smoked was bagged and slightly compressed it was Acapulco Gold it was a bit more pricey at $40 for a 8 and a half gram bag, but man it was the trippiest sativa I've ever smoked, ever. These two topped all the Dutch strains that I've smoked but I havent smoke all that many high quality genetics but the ones i've smoked were considered elite, for instance Skunk #1, Super Skunk, White Widow, Sour Diesel(best taste ever) Blueberry, a few more that I forget, but anyways my point is that bricking only affects the looks not the potency and regardless of what some people might say not all bricked weed is crap, sure some is but as long as you can look at it and see its got good color and smell, it will be good. I just wanna point out that Sour Diesel is one of my favorite all time strains but it doesn't compare to the trippyness of the Acapulco Gold at all, now by flavor Sour Diesel wins hands down but all the flavors are very unique but I'm more of a skunk man myself and the slightly skunky citrus diesel flavor is hard to beat, sounds funny saying that diesel flavor is a good thing, but you just have to smoke some. Now some weed may not look like your used too but you have to factor in smell also some strains are naturally more brownish those are usually mexican sativas taken when fully ripe, some may be more yellowish usually afghan or simmilar, some are dark green(usually very tasty), some are lime green that is uaually a stoney skunk, then there are purple strains and god what a hard thing to classify because its can be triggered by many things sometimes temperature, sometimes genetics. But the main thing to look for when buying weed is the trichs if you can see good trich coverage the weed is good, they don't have to be covered for it to be good but just a nice covering, and don't be fooled by weed that isn't trimmed good, take a closer look and if the buds themselves look good then buy and pick the leaves off as your break it up. Another thing about bricked weed is that some growers try to get more weight out of their buds by not letting them dry properly, if you get weed that doesn't break up good then either put it in a jar to let some of the moisture disipate or lay it out for a few hours until its starts to feel right. This sounds very diffacult but its really not just go by the looks and smell if it looks and smell ok then go for it, if it looks good but smells funky then you may want to go for that also its just because the weed wasn't dried correctly and is getting a funky smell from the remaining water which will disappear when you cure it right. Hope this helps without confusing you. Peace If you have any more questions just ask. |
