Hi fellow ICer's, i have just booked a holiday to the dominican republic, i will be staying in the resort of cabarete, has anyone been to this resort? and if any1 has whats the score with gettin hold of some local mary jane, is it readily available like in jamaica? many thx all

Hi RJ, I've never been there but I understand that weed is not the reason to go to the DR as I believe the drug laws are pretty strict there. Most go there for the beautiful scenery and the plentiful model quality women.

hey bud ,, i was there twice. i dont know of your resort , but weed is NOT avalible like in jamaca or mexico . i did have only one guy ask me and that was on the grounds , but far away fom the hotel . i also stayed in a very high end resort , so i dont now if that factors into it . the second time i went , no one asked me .. im not the kind of guy who feels comfortable asking ,, but i am the kind of guy who looks like i get high . when in mexico i was on the beach for , id say 3 minutes before i was asked ,,,lol

Dominican Republic is lot more known for the women than it is for the weed. I have been numerous times to the Dominican Republic and have seen the inside of the Higuey prision cause I have a friend who was arrested for smuggling and is doing 10 years in Higuey. Jails in DR are straight POW camps with constant epidemics of disease, riots and asshole cops. If you want a weed vacation I suggest you turn to Jamaica but I would not recommend any passing tourist who doesn't know the Dominicans way to mess by copping weed from the locals, there is nothing more fullfilling to DR cops than to bust tourist especially if you are an American, the penalty's there are super harsh even for small amounts so be careful.

u cant beat the prices for a trip to DR...Ill be going there in may not for weed just because its the cheapset place in the carribiean

...cheaper than Haiti? Just kidding. The comments above say pretty much what I have always heard about DR. It is impossible to overemphasive the sheer beauty of the geography, architecture (Santo Domingo) and women...so I've heard.

well i have now returned from my travels and all i can say is there is an abundance of weed in the dom rep, (most of what i saw/offered wasnt very good) it took me awhile to find some good bud but in the end i did. i got a oz for 2000 dom rep pesos (£35 approx or $70).
The bud i got was just like what u would expect from jamaica, nothing like what u would get from home but at end of day beggers cant be choosers.
I hope this info will benefit any1 going to the dom rep

just be respectful and askk the man if you guys can come to an agreement a 20 $ us is more than enuff dependin on how n where u get cought ! cops drinkin on the job its a disaster out there everyone carrys a gun its like normal life ! so yea be careful an dont look like a tourist ( even tho they alreadi know u are ) ! in d.r with money u live like a KING with everything at your feet for pennys the currency is like at 32 pesos to 1 us dollar ! i suggest bringing ur own weed coming into the country is no problem believe me i take mine all the time its leaving d.r where the problem comes in because so much coke an heroin leaving the country the columbians use it as a entrance point to the states according to the tv news .
