ummmm....LOL.....you're supposed to hydrate them with water. Didn't it have a label? should have said how much water to soak it in....softens right up and is pretty honking easy to handle after that.

oh coco bricks..
Rinse the salt under a top with smll holes in a bucket once ec is below 2.0 or 1.0 ideally soak in PH 5.8 cal mag solution or canna soak buffer. then drain till nearly dry and fluff up by either passing through a sive or a mixing well in a bucket (add perlite now if you choose to). the last block in used coco peat needed alot of flushing atleast 5 hours of running water to get ec below 3.0ec. Keep checking the run off if its really stuborn like i incountered id find a ready to use bag of coco bcuzz, hygen, growth tech, canna all have below 0.5ec from the bag.. simply saves alot of messing around.. |

if you have a high salt content, then use hot water to flush with, this will make it loosen the salts quicker, with less water. as long as your plants are not in there yet, lol.
as for prepping the brick of coco, didn't some one make a thread about that? shit i can't find it anymore. anyway the main thing is to add the water before you even think about breaking up the brick. add water with a ph of 5.9 and as low an ec as possible. |

I try to buy quality coco that doesn't need to be flushed. Although that isn't possible for everyone.
I throw the brick in a 15 gallon bucket. Fill with water and let soak. I usually will take a flathead screwdriver and shove it in to the coco on the side of the brick. then use the leverage to pull off a chunk. I chunk it up a little bit and then let the water do the rest of the work for me. A local company now has washed flocked coco with perlite and mychorrizal in bags. I am testing that stuff out because it will make things a lot easier when I need about 20 bricks ready at once.
