Mango Haze Micro Grow Show

Ok, I cannot resist any longer and want to try it ASAP...

I decided to create my own thread instead of using Alex-F's one, since I have a very small setup and I don't know whether my experience can be of any value for others. If yes, I'll keep on updating it.

I had those beans at the beginning of November 2005 from Dr Chronic. Since I've read about some germination problem I waited till May 2006 to give them a try (wanted to be sure the temperature was not going to be a problem for germination). I was not that lucky though. I tried 3 seeds and no one germinated:
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.p...426#post467426
Still I was able to get one germinate, but it turned out being a male. sob.
I wrote about it here:
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.p...707#post479707

So 24 hours ago I soaked 3 more seeds in RO water, with a temperature between 23 and 25 degree Celsius:

No sign so far...
I have only 9 seeds left, and I'll keep on trying till I'll find a nice baby...

Now something about myself and my setup.
I came to know THC in 1985 and, even though finding weed or seeds in the place where I live was almost impossible - only hashish was available at that time - I wanted to grow my own stuff from the very beginning. I did not know anything about marijuana growing, but I was eventually able to grasp some seeds (not even bagseeds, but probably stuff to feed small birds...;-) and, in the balcony of my family house, I started growing, with very bad results I must say. It was only at the beginning of the nineties that I was able to travel to the Netherlands and find some good genetics that gave me some nice outdoor crop. But at that time I grew up and moved from my family home, and moved in a place where it was not possible to grow outdoor anymore.
It was '97 or '98. At that time there were not growers forums I was aware of, even though the first growing faqs and howtos where showing up on the Net. Thanks to those documents I was able to get to know some of the indoor growing techniques, so I brought a small (150 watt) HPS and started growing indoor. With very poor results, so I quit after some months and a couple of very small crops.
Then a couple of years ago, when my last pusher got busted, I discovered those nice growers forums with plenty of nice guys providing information, expertise, and valuable help. I started again with my old 150 hps and, after 2 years, I'm now able to produce enough to enjoy myself.

In this period of time I just wanted to practice hydroponics - I built my grow spaces doing everything by myself and now I even prepare my own nutes with basic chemicals - so I did not chase many different strains. I've basically be growing only two plants: a good pheno of Nirvana's Snow White and a good plant of skunk #1 (the Pure from TFD).

Since I have this very small setup, growing a new strain is a bit troublesome for me.
First I need to grow from seed in my small veg space (80 cm x 80 cm x 80 cm, with 3 x 32 watt florescent lamps):

When ready I'll take cuttings from the new plants, I'll just sex those (mother)plants in the flowering space (50 cm x 100 cm - 120 cm high) and throw them away (plants from seeds are generally too big for my place):

In the meantime I'll root the cuttings and then I'll flower them till the end, starting the selection process.

This is going to take a lot of time (probably I'll also have to stop my operation for about a month this summer). I hope to sex at least a couple of mango hazes in a couple of month. I hope to have at least a female (and no selection), even though what I really hope is to get 3 plants and a couple of females to select the keeper from... I already had a male from 3 seeds :-(

Perhaps by fall I'll be able to enjoy some MH or, at least, I'll know that my setup does not allow me to grow it.

We will see. If you like this kind of micro operation I'll post some update.

thank you for stopping by!
well, my cab is more than enough for me and my hobby. it's fun. I had the inspiration on OG from Pipedream's cab:
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=21514

I hope and think it should be enough for something like the mango haze. I have the feeling that it may be possible to grow, if done properly, even sativa dominant genetics in such a space and even with such little light. Or at least I want to try.
Do not kid me, but I also have a pack of TDF original haze beans...
