Homemade "THE CUBE" Vertical System
My set up will consist of Four Sections. Each section will look very similar to this:
Four of these arranged in a sqaure makes "The Cube": The difference between my setup and the one in the pic is that I will only have (3) 4'' ABS PIPES per section as opposed to 6. Each pipe will stand about 5 feet tall with 4 plants per pipe. This makes 12 plants per section, and 48 plants for the whole system. I will drill each hole into the ABS pipe using a hole saw and then place a netcup into the newly made hole. I will use (4) 54g rubbermaid totes as the reservoirs. One reservoir per section, with (3) 4''holes drilled on the lid to place each 4''ABS pipe. Any excess water will drain VIA gravity out the bottom of each 4''ABS pipe right back into the reservoir. For my medium I plan on usng Higromite, perlite, or coco. I am not sure at this point what I want to use. I will fill each tube with the medium and attach a 4'' net cup at the bottom of the ABS PIPE to prevent the medium from falling into the reservoir. For watering I plan on using nylon rope to wick water from the reservoir up the length of the pipe which will be about 5 feet. Im not sure how well capillary action can work when it has to travel 5 feet, so every few days I will water from the top to make sure the medium is moist enough. In addition to the top feed and wick, I plan oxygenizing the reservoir and allow the roots of each pipe to hang into the reservoir, hence adding the DWC effect to the grow. Now I have a vertical wick/drip/DWC grow. In the center of this "CUBE" there will be (2) 600w HPS digital lights. The new Co2Boost will be used as the Co2 supplementation. $125 per grow. Panda Film or Mylar will sorround the cube for maximun reflection. As for the Nutrients....I really want to try BioBizz but am hesitant to try it in a non drain to waste system. Right now Im leaning towards the FoxFarm Hydroponics line of Nutrients.. so any BioBizz users or experts please inform.. Retail Vertical system such as the cage claim yileds of 1.5grams/watt or more which is why I am so intent on this. I have only 2 grows under my belt, and this will be my third. To better ensure my chances of high yield, I have choosen to use HeavyFruityDuty which is soppused to be one of the biggest indoor yielders. One of my concerns is that none of the vertical grows I have seen have implemented the wick nor the DWC to their vertical grow, as well as filling the pipes with a medium. Complement, Critizise, Suggest.. Just Need some feedback... Especially from experienced vertical growers. Will post some pictures in a week or so when I have started the building process and finalized my design plans.. ***ALWAYS CHILLING, ALWAYS HIGH, ALWAYS CALIFORNIA,ALWAYS*** |

Looks like multi big bowled bongs to me lol,I know nothing about hydro though. One thing to consider man some strains TH seeds hog comes to mind, and bigbud of course, are just plain nasty and shitty. If its totally a commercial thing you're doing thats cool, but you may want to reserve a couple of those "multi bowled bongs" slots for some chronic erb for yourself.Just hate to see you go through all that work and be disappointed in the end. There are excellent indica's out there like blockhead and ice that'll yield great and the smoke is worth growing the shit for lol

Do both bulbs get mounted vertically or is the lower one horizontal for the plants at the bottom? Neat looking setup...can't wait to see how it works for ya

The material in the pipes is 4'' ABS plastic which is very simial to 4''Schedule 40 PVC.
As far as doing an enitre HeavyFruityDuty crop, I think its probably a better idea to grow 8 personals of some bomb herb regardless of yield and 40 HeavyFruityDutys. Or something simialr to this. Both bulbs will be vertical and unlike the picture of "the cube" posted above, my setup will not have any plants on the ground. |

Do yourself a favor and build a simple drip system. It will pay BIG time when it comes to yeild. Try a side by side and see what I mean.

wouldnt it be more efficent if the shap was circular rather then a cube? unless your fitting in more plants in a hope to yeild slight less per plant but more overall, which makes up for the increased number of plants
