Arriving in Style!!
It had been a while since I had been in these United States......maybe about 4 or 5 years when I had flown out to the Northern California Growers Association's harvest festival in Sonoma......
Florida looked familiar but a little different.......everything seemed to be laid out in regular blocks just like the rest of America that I had seen before with loads of drive in restaurants and shopping malls....small businesses and stop and shop grocery stores, it all look pretty affluent to me......lots of nice cars on the road......plenty of yellow Hummers all over the place and old corvettes........ We programmed in the Boca Resort into the sat-nav system and the lady in the box of tricks had an American voice to tell us where to turn and where to go.....D.G. did'nt seem to need it anyway since she had lived around these parts for many years before.......but it was entertaining all the same... ...The weather was hot and humid outside and luckily for us we were there between two major hurricanes....Charlie and Frances and so did not have to go thru all of those crazy weather shennanigans during our stay.... I was happy to let someone else do the driving since I had left my drivers licence in the U.K. and so it was not really possible anyway.....My Jag was in the shop in England getting fixed after I had hit a kerb sideways a couple of weeks before and knocked one of the back wheels of.......and this Jag was a bit bigger, roomier but just as comfortable and D.G. was loving it!! Soon we pulled into the fancy looking resort and the valet parkers were all over us welcoming us to the big hotel/resort and giving us all sorts of information which went in one ear and out the other I'm afraid since I only had one thing on my mind and that was a fat spliff of fine weed......and a cold glass of fizzy wine.... ...We were checked in swiftly and shown to a lovely large room with a bathroom to die for in it and a nice patio area to sit/dine and entertain in.......Just as we arrived there so did room service with a couple of bottles of Californian champers and some delicious chilled strawberry's dipped in chocolate with tuxedo's on!!!...mmmm.. Just as room service left an old friend of D.G.'s showed up with some fine weed called 'Bob's Haze'.........and some homegrown Dutch Passion White Widow........The guy even brought us a whole weed smokers kit in a little tupperware container comprising of a small pair of manicuring scissors, some hemp smoking rolling papers and even some cardboard tips to roll us and use as filters in the end of the spliffs that we were to roll...... Ahh....very soon we had rolled up a spliff of both kinds and were happily toking away whilst commenting on the taste/bouquet of each variety.......Yes....I could definately taste that hazey taste in the weed that had come from some guy called 'Bob'......and I noted that it was a trippy upstairs sort of buzz even though I felt a little tired and weary after travelling god knows how many thousands of miles to get here from Europe........ That contented look of satisfaction was cast over my face as I praised D.G.'s good buddy for showing up with such fine/cured cannabis for our consumption....and then he passed me the White Widow spliff.....which after 3 good lugs put me into hyperspace.........I wandered out into the evening warmth on the patio and stared out towards the ocean.......it was less that 100 meters away....and I closed the sliding doors to listen to the sound of the waves untill this absolutely terrible lounge singer started braying out an incredibly lacklustre rendition of some forgetable James Taylor song from one of the hotel restaurants......and so I beat a hasty retreat back into the air-con coolness of our little rented piece of Florida beach front for a while longer untill we were all happily satiated....... D.G.'s buddy did'nt have more than just a small glass of the wine, so soon we all piled into his rice burner of a car to go up to some beach area called Delray where we sat outside facing the Atlantic Ocean and ate hot and spicy chicken wings whilst watching the people go by a little tired.....certainly jet-lagged.....and oh so very stoned!

So DG is your chauffer now?
You left your drivers license at home? At least you had a passport man. What if they pulled you over? I mean what could they have done to you anyways. With the balls of iron you have shown just coming to America I see no reason to worry about a traffic cop. ![]() America ain't so bad huh? Good food, good people and good weed. What more does a man need than his champers, his lady chauffer and some good stash on the beach eh? Good to be on the road with Gypsy again... BOG :p

What to see next?
There are many wonderful places and sites in South Florida that being able to see them all in a short time frame is virtually impossible. It saddened me that I knew there were many of these places I knew about but that Gypsy would not get to see. Well not on this trip anyway...maybe next time. We would not make it to the Keys (no Islamarada Tiki Bar...nor 7 mile Bridge, or the airboat ride to see the alligators in the Everglades, etc.etc.etc).
Since we were staying very north and to the extreme east of most of these places I decided our longest venture out in this short period would be to head south on I-95 :p ![]() Yes, a high HOV overpass gives the first good view of the Miami skyline ![]() Where to go, hey..... ![]() Think we'll check out Key Biscayne. ![]() dg |

Key Biscayne
![]() Shortly we would be in the best place I could think of to see Miami and get a feeling for it's beauty ....but without the up close and personal bumper to bumper traffic that usually clogs up the downtown street areas. ![]() Besides, the sky was looking a bit angry up in N Broward/S Palm Beach county area, so I went South, just as I had done so many times before, (but usually via motorcycle...not driving an XJ8), by heading away from the dark clouds and toward the sunny blue ones :p ![]() dg |

Does it have the 400 hp engine like yours? Should I trade in Mrs. BOG's Japanese Corvette for one?
