Canna-oil For Brownies!
I'm planning on making some brownies soon using canna-oil but just need some advice first. I'm thinking of using about a 1/4 ounce (7 Grams) of REALLY good bud, would about 150ml Vegetable Oil be enough oil for that much marijuana? Do you think this would make about half a cup of canna-oil?
So once I get the vegetable oil hot ill use a crockpot or slow-cooker and just add the grinded up buds in there and leave them on low and stir them every once in awhile for about 6 hours. when it's done can I strain this through a coffee filter or will this catch some of the thc? How about a piece of cloth like say a cut up muscle shirt? (I Don't have cheesecloth) Any other advice would be great! Thanks |

I'd probably go with the cut up shirt. Coffee filters suck up too much oil. I leave a heavy can on top of bundle in strainer (scrap of cheeseclothe) for a couple hours and normally get 98% back.
I base how much oil to use on how much is required for my recipe. Then I keep the weed quantity per piece in mind while cutting pieces. Gotta be careful with edibles, cuz if you keep eating until you get off, you will eat too much and just sleep.

dudes, please see my thread titled better brownies in this forum.
its just a few threads down from this one and your brownies wont b a complete waste of your time. 150ml is way too much oil for only a 1/4 bag of buds. you're just going about it like the most difficult stoneaged way. believe me i've done it your way mant different times and had decided the high just wasnt worth the buds. im less ignorant now he he. peace and good luck, pwf edit-im sorry im stont, 3/4 cup is fine he he. Ok thanks! But if i'm making the canna-oil in a slowcooker for say 4 hours, alot of the vegetable oil will probably evaporate right? Do you think 200mL (4/5 of a cup) would be ok if at the end i needed 125mL (1/2 of a cup)? Also will 4 hours be long enough?

I cover it, and cook at least 6 hours. And had folks tell me they leave it on 48 hours! You must pour immediately while it is hot, or it will cool, thicken and stick to weed. I get 98% oil back, using cheesecloth. I lose about 15-20% when I have to use a coffee filter.
Oil doesn't evaporate, it burns up, so at a low setting, it doesn't burn, it's retrievable.

Ok I read your posts. Thanks for your help so I will use peanut oil. So 7 grams of bud grinded up really good and 150ml of peanut oil will be fine and give me about 1/2 a cup if I strain it good? So about a low/medium heat for around 6 hours stirring alot?
Sorry for all the questions but don't want to waste my buds. Thanks |

Ok so now I need another answer. I have my quarter ounce (It's AK47, never had it before how do people like it?) and now there are two methods I can think of to make this oil. Which should I do:
1) Cut the weed up and cook with the oil in a slowcooker on a low/medium heat for several hours, or 2) Grind up the bud and put it in a sealed glass jar with the oil in it and shake it several times a day. The 2nd way is easier and I would be able to do it for about 9-10 days if I start today. If I use the first method I'd only be able to cook it for 3-5 hours, which do you think would be better? Thanks! |

I have never cooked with pot before so if anyone knows please let me know which you think is a better method. I would just blaze it all but I want to try this out! Thank to everyone who has contributed to this thread so far!
