I'm also very impressed with your thorough testing methods.

How about a test, with and without glass?

Without glass, great idea. I will get on that.

Coolsun 6" hoods are coming up. As well as the Coolsun XL 8". It might be another day or so for those numbers. I am currently using the coolsuns in a grow and need to take them down for testing. I will test them during the next dark cycle.

Are you talking about the kind that has the reflective aluminum outside the cooltube, or just a cooltube with no reflector?
alright Pico-i'm talking about a meter test on a cooltube with the internal reflector in place (modified or unmodded) with or without the external wings- in a conventional horizontal position-although with all those air cooled hoods i understand your reluctance to rush out and buy another one

Sun Systems Cool Sun 6"

Well I tore up my flowering room lighting in the name of science. There are more important things I should be doing, but I must get to the bottom of this.

Cool Sun 6" hood

At 18 inches. Measured in footcandles.

The Cool Sun 6" is a well built reflector. Unlike the ArcticSun and SuperSun, it does not have leaks anywhere in the main body. Like all the others it still needs to be sealed around the glass. It reflects more light than the arcticsun but less than the supersun. I could have guessed this from the inside of each hood, but good to have the numbers.

Just a recap of testing so far. These are the averages at 18 inches with each reflector over a 3x3 grid. Measured in footcandles.

Arcicsun: 2252
Super Sun 2: 2596
Cool Sun 6": 2411
Cool Sun 6" no glass: 2470

Anyone using any of these supersun 2 reflectors? Deffinately adding 4 of these to my room this week.

Am I presenting the information clearly? Let me know if I need to expain anything. It all makes sense to me but I could be leaving something out.

Cool Sun 8" results coming up in just a minute.

I'm following ya

It would be sweet if there was a way to chart the data tho...but I'm sure that'd probably be a PITA.

I am working on that right now. I think the hard part was typing all those numbers in to the computer and the calculator.
