I struggled with straining the hot butter from leaf for a while. My fingers got really hot. Plus I didn't think I was really straining it very well.
I have one of these juicers: ![]() It spins REALLY fast. The pulp is dry when I toss it. Now I am confident that I am straining my leaf properly. And I don't burn my fingers. If you like to cook a lot you have to try this. It saves time and is so easy. I always look for these kind of juicers when I go to a garage sale, for a gift for one of my stoner friends. Sweet!! |

i've always found those over-sized steel strainers to do the job. you can find them at safeway...theyre high quality...just sit it on a bowl and strain away...does a real good job at keeping the plant matter out, easy to clean up.

I like to use cheese clothe and a strainer (like one used to sprinkle powder sugar) and a glass or ceramic cup.

Ok, looks like I'm the only one even using a MACHINE of any kind. I was hoping someone would have perfected somekind of method that was better than that.
If you're cooking a good amount of butter, then you need a good method to strain it. I think the juicer is optimal. Last edited by somekind; 03-06-2007 at 09:33 AM.. |

Perhaps juicer is optimal but spending a few cents on panti hose, it works just great for me.

I know what you mean SK, I think we leave a lot of thc behind with the cheesecloth & strainer method, or at least I do. I twist the cheesecloth until it finally rips sometimes, and there is still butter in the herb. I saved a batch and ate some, and got off on it, so I confirmed my suspicion.
I saved the last four herb/butter balls in the freezer. I am gonna buy a cheap coffee maker and try it without any filter, just a screen rig. I figure to put a gallon [4 qts, one at a time] through each ball and see how much butter I end up with. If I can pull one full strenght batch from four spend herb balls, I will be satisfied. I'll report back when I try it. H |
