Solar power

This is a question for those of you who may know better than me... as i don't get it

I keep reading story after story about people either getting busted and caught for stealing electric, or just getting busted because the use too much and the authorities get suspicious

I saw generators mentioned... but I'm assuming they use alot of gas, which requires delivery, and could end up being just as "suspicious"

but what about Solar Power?

I mean... isn't only like 10 grand to rig up your own Solar Power, so you don't even have to go through the electric company? Seems liek a wise investment, that would leave little to no way for anyone to know what your using

someone tell me i'm wrong

peace to you all

Hey Bro, LOL, there always has been Solar, jes put it outside in the Sun!! No equipment needed. Why waste $$ and time converting it, use a frosted glass to limit visibility and voila!!

Solar is more expensive than you think.

For example, in New York State they'll rebate $4 of every watt of power. Then you'll get a tax exemption of about $1.25 a watt. But the installation will cost about $12 a watt leaving you paying $6.75 a watt.

So a 5 kilowatt system will initially cost $60,000. The rebate will be $20,000. The tax break will be $6250. That leaves you out of pocket $33,750. And a 5kw system won't product 5kw all the time. You only get about 1/4 utilization so you could only cover about 2 kilowatt of flowering wattage plus some veg lighting and fans, etc.

One last thing to consider is that it takes about 6 months to get an installation completed. This includes inspections by the state and the electricity company.

wait... wookie bro...

you are obviously an expert..

so.. yer sayin the government charges yer ass/inspects your usage?

wtf... that is lame

i'm sayin, couldn't you just rig up some system that is 100% yours, and the gov can't fuck wit ya?

i mean... if you had a waterfall on yer property... build one of them smurf-wheels and go hydro electric..

or one of them pillars with a fan on top... and get your power from the wind

i mean... unless i understood you wrong..i would think theres gotta be some way where you make some large initial investmnet, and then that shit pays for itself eventually (minus maintenance charges, that you obviously learn how to do yourself)

and then boom.... aint no one knows what yer doin

i will ook into this more

peace

hey its all POSSIABLE only you need the proper enviroment(s) for each to work,, if you have a GOOD FALLING water source you can go mico terbin (sp),, and such,,, but most who use solar or RENEWABLE power,, are far enough out to use the sun, (most likely)..

the problem is you taking sun, making DC current,, then turning it to AC power,, then AGAIN making it into high amp AC to simulate the SUN,, OUCH you loose soo much in that,,

now IF your a real mcgiver (sp) you may make some collectors and get by with a steam genny or some other BUT you still loose in all the transitions...

BILLY WoNKA.. no inspections for use,, its just like adding a room and a hottub,, the local gov will want to aprove and inspect,, and as your getting rebates (per the senario above) you must be certified its installed and leagal for the $$$ back...

now IF you had LOTS of $$ TO INVEST you may get a point 5 -6years out that your SALES profit pays you back,, but now your going big $$ and selling,, so would you invest that much $$$ just to loose it.....

but its getting closer, WHEN they get LED's to work well THAT will be the shit,, FOR REAL !!!!!!

good question,, if more peps kept looking OUTSIDE the box we may pull our colective asses out of the fire,,,,,

also guy's there is the fact that solar panels are only 15% efficient so on a day with 1,200 W/m2 (normal summer day at noon) you would only get 180-watts per square meter of solar panels, the reason is solar panels only use's the infrared spectrum so all the other spectrums are not absorbed and just lost as heat, but people are working on new solar panel technology that will be up-to 80% efficient and will work by having layers of crystals that absorb every color of the spectrum.
