Sog in coco

Hi all. This is my first go @ using coco.
Strains are as follows, Strawberry Cough, Swazi Safari, and one Hog.
I bought earthjuice companion coir and Fox farms perlite. I mixed 4 11# bales of coco with 1.5 bags of the large F.F perlite for each 4'x4' 1000 watt bed. My food is Pure-blend pro grow with Cal-mag+ and Liquid Karma. For flowering I have FloraNova bloom. Lighting is Hortilux eye 1000k (x4) 8" air cooled light hoods w/ one Elicent fan for each 2 lights and one 8" Elicent fresh air in fan (filtered air w/3M Filtrete filter).

The clones went in on Feb. 1st + 2nd. I'm hand watering every day with a light nute stregnth with some run-off. I can't belive my eyes buy, there's already new growth! In soli I used to have to wait a few days for the lil' girls to adjust but they look a week old and are already putting out new leafs after 3 days. Amazing

I'll update this thread as I can. Any advice will be welcomed since I'm new to this medium (but not to growing and I read and studied most of the existing threads in this forum). So, with this forums excellent info, I decided it was time to switch (plus the fact that 35 bags of dirt up the front stairs in Jan. would have raised a few eyebrows)!

This fourth bed is dirt since I had some moms going at the time I was prepping the coco beds. This one has Purple Cream, Hawaiian Mauiwowie Skunk, Northern lights, Sensi Star, Trainwreck and Chronic.

It'll be interesting to compare the coco grows against your one soil bed. Luck to ya, I think you're going to like this medium!

Hi ic user,

i like the look of your set up a lot man. a bed of coco has always tempted me. the plants will thank you for all the root space.

it looks like you planted the small rw cube directly into the coco bed? this is ok and will work, but it saves you time to pre veg and root them a bit before hand in 7cm by 7cm rw cubes or small pots of coco, once these are rooted the clone is perfectly ready for a regular watering plan. if you plant the clone in directly, you need to give them water a bit less often for the first week or so. it will help them make a good root system quickly.

anyway can't wait to see more, keep up the great work, i'm sure you will be well pleased with the results in coco.

welcome to the coco section of this site by the way

First update at 8 days

Hi everybody. I'm really liking this coco medium. The growth is so fast. I've been using Pureblend pro grow, Liquid Karma, Cal-mag+ and Nitrozyme about 70-80% max rates listed on the bottles. I have vegged for 8 days now and will start flowering Sat or sun. Here's the pics--------(I didn't take one of the soil bed-it looks about the same as last week)

Thanks Budbeast. The beds are 8"-9" deep. I usually use a 12" bed but there's 44 pounds of coco in each one and 1 and 1/3 bags of perlite. I had the grow shop owner figure the size and we fell a little short.

A dripper setup can be done but I like to hand water.

The cronic will be ready around 8 weeks and it's a serious heavy producer. I let some bottom growth go for 10 and it wasn't much different.
