well i guess after more reading and still unsure i'll soak the coco brick in 2 gal water PH'd @ 5.9 then i'll flush the 1 brick with 3 gals water with clearex 7 tsp/gal water PH'd @ 6.0. then i'll soak the medium in water w/calmag+ PH'd @ 6.0 for about 1-2 hrs then i'll add 40% perlite to the mix. i'll have either the hydrokorrel balls or perlite in the bottom of conatiner, i'm going to run 1 plant in coco to get my feet wet. ive decided against the ebb & flow for now so i'll just hand water as needed in a container like this

plenty of holes and root airation going on in these containers

sounds like you have covered your bases Maj.PotHead, i'm no expert at using coco with non specific ferts, but there are a few members getting good results. one other supplement that seems to be good for what you are planning is sweet.

as for the gh coco, just expand it with ph corrected tap water. and then flush it with more ph corrected tap water. your ec or ppm meter would tell you how salty or not the coco is, just measure the run off from the fully saturated coco. the higher the initial salt content the longer you need to flush it. apparently using hot water gets the salts out quicker too.

good growings

ok coco has been soaking in water with calmag+ PH'd @ 6.0 for about 45 min's i grabbed few small handfulls from ontop, and squeezed it into the shot glass i use to read the PH. ok i would assume that a PH of 5.3-5.4 is a little low or will this be just fine to add my perlite to and start 2 clones ??.

and another question after i've prepared my coco can i let the amount i dont use dry out and store untill ready for use again ???.

if i can store unused prepared coco when it's time for use any special preperations ?? like rinse and soak again. or can it be used as is .

thx for any help from the coco Gods lol if i can grasp coco i have some great genitics in the line up

yes you can use the rest next time, just bag it up and close the bag and it stays ready for use. the ph being a bit low is no problem and will soon adjust when you water with the correct ph of 6.0

once the coco is expanded from that compressed form, you can keep it like earth, no need to let it get dry again, unless you want to. to use it just add ph corrected water till its fully soaked again.

thx G
i'll treat the unused coco like i would my bags of FFOF soil it stays moist and has never molded on me. right on i thought 5.3-5.4 PH was kinda low guess i flushed it properly lol. i'll be sure to water with PH'd 6.0

i have 2 grape krush clones in GH rapid rooter plugs have some roots but are kinda sickly lookn. then i have 3 very nice grape krush clones established in FFOF soil in 3x3x3 inch containers. i'm leaning toward planting the est FFOF clones they've been in the containers approx 10days and that little amount of soil is washed out lol. so i dont think it would hurt the coco. for the micro ebb & flow i have 9 more grape krush cuttings ready for the rapid rooter plugs today. those i'll run in that in coco if i dont kill the 2 soil to coco 1's in the meantime lol.

thx N
i thought it was really kool my older friend brought this micro ebb-flow to me, i've been thinking about converting to coco and then maybe hydro lol then all this equip just lands in my lap. so the busy busy beee i am i must put it to work for me and use it.

and if i do grasp coco grown i have
Sugar Shack
Grape Krush
Memory Loss <--- Urkel x Strawberryd cross {Jaws}
and soon White Widow

to run

lol well not much to look @ now dont really expect these to survive but fingers crossed on the left is a Grape Krush on the right is Sugar Shack.
GK has some roots out of the plug the shack has few so here gose only other optain is gk and shack in FFOF

if all fairs good i have 9 fresh cut grape krush and 2 recut shack under the dome

the 2 GK in coco where feed with 1/2 tsp/gal water pbp grow
1/4 tsp diamond necture 1/4 tsp seaweed extract in water PH'd @ 6.0.
the clones i choose have yellowing on the lower leaves this is why i choose to give a light feeding. also with my run off @ 5.3-5.4 after the preperations earlier i figured a light feed would help bring the ph up a tad ?
