1st Time Microgrow w/ CFLs - Micro Grows - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

Hello everyone,
Well finally got a grow up and going. Though it was unsuspected as I just threw in some bagseed to see if any germanate. None did so I turned the light off and came back a few days later and there was a sprout so I turned the light back on and it soon began to manufacture clorophyl and return to life. Anyways what you see in the pics is not permant. This weekend I will be getting a soil mixture with perlite or make my own 50/50 ratio and I will also be getting 4 43 watt cfls to replace the 23 watt you see there. The duct you see on the side is the air intake powered b a computer fan hooked up to dc power. I also plan to order some of nirvanas either white widow or northern lights so expect to see that in the future. Im also debating on whether to scrog or lst. Either way Im glad to finally be on the way to free buds

Also let me clear up this is not my first grow but my third but my first with this cab. Before I used long cool tubes but they wont fit in here. Also the light is a whole lot brighter than it looks in the photo. I think I set the exposure too low.

About 2 days old.

Hey RoboBond. You know RoboBond would kick some serious ass if they made him. LOL!!

That 23w will keep it happy for a spell until you get the other lights. Sometimes the hardest step is that first one when starting up a grow.

I love to see the grows start and then progress along until finish

In a month you will be talking about 12/12 and flowering and stuff. WOOHOO!!

Once you start it goes fast really.

UPDATE

Watered em for the first time since I planted em. Doing good and a sprout was spotted in the other pot so it looks like Ill be having two plants this run. Ill post a picture update at the end of the week.

They seem to be doing well and the one has almost reached the 1 week mark. The other is doing well too though stretching a little but that is to be expected so for now I moved them alittle closer. Also added alittle bit of coffee grounds to the top for an early nitrogen fix untill I get proper soil. Also should be replacing the one 23 watt cfl with 4 43 watt ones soon hooked up with y connecters.

Checked em and notices some browning on the tips of the lower leaves. Does anyone know what this could be? Still new to growing and definatly new to identifying problems like this. If I don't get a reply Ill just post up a thread in the infirmary. Other than that they appear to be doing well.

And the problem area. Sry for the blur (camera phone) but you can still make out the browning on the leaves tips.

Update.
Wow not many replys here. Anyways I finally got my lights and it sure as hell lights the place up a whole lot better. I also got new soil with good drainage and pots. Looking good. Will post pics tommarow.

Here, just to tell you something that will really inprove your yeilds. When using CF's it is best to use a 11 on and 13 off light cycle when flowering.

happy 420th post. hmm I heard that a lower flowering cycle speeds up harvest. How could it improve yields.
