I'll probably take mine to 75-80 days... I like to put in some 45-60 day strains in with the long timers just so I can harvest something sooner... otherwise I end up paying to smoke the chemicals and toxins you can find on the streets...

Hi all,
This disscussion is very crucial. If you want your diesel to look like the diesel pic Soma posted instead of the one with the ice o nycd in this topic One of the major factors is the extra time. I was living with 73 diesel clones in 2004 from Soma's motherplant that a friend of Soma's was taking care of. He Made them nice like the pic Soma posted, and here are some of the ways he did it. a) he had a nice big bed of earth somastyle so the roots go deep and far b) the plants were gently tended so they stayed 100% healthy for their entire lives, and most importantly, c) when the diesel looks ready (as in the pics above in this topic) and mostly the hairs have turned red, you leave it for a few more weeks and what happens is that the calyxes all swell and get bigger/filled out, the calyxes start to grow in stacks making long thin stacks of calyxes from the buds (many sativa's do this but it is a quintessential Diesel trait). I like to leave it as long as I can, though as with all strains, you should always watch the balls on the heads of the glandular trichomes because you dont want them to turn brown. I believe Soma once told me to think about it like an apple or fruit getting ripe. This makes perfect sense especially for the diesel you must think of a green apple on a tree in autumn slowly turning red/sweet. Those last couple weeks can really bring out the full structure and red grapefruit flavor of this precious variety. |
