Seedling feeding regime?
Hi there
Just trying to dial in a suitable feeding regime for 'average' feeding strains started from seed using Canna nutes. At present, am sprouting on paper towels, then into 100% coco. These new sprouts are getting: 1mL/L of A & B 4mL/L of Rhizotonic 0 Cannazym Once I get a couple of sets of leaves, I move to this mix: 2.5mL/L A & B 2mL/L of Rhizo 2.5mL/L of Cannazym Does this sound a reasonable plan for seedlings in Coco? Is it too much of a jump from 1ml to 2.5ml do you think? |

seedlings dont usually need nutes, usually you wait about 3 weeks or until they start showing slight yellowing. then start in small doses about 1/4 reccomended strength, and slowly up it as you progress.

but i thought that since coco contains no nutrients in it, so from what ive been reading u need to start nutes sooner than u would with soil. just like u would with hydro

bongoman : That sounds just about right.
These lil plants have had near enough the same,,, (2ml/L canna nutes instead 2.5),, since the first set of leaves showed. (about 2 weeks old now) Scatman: Quote:

i see you have already gotten your answer. i also think your plan is pretty spot on. although i might use only rhizotonic for the first waterings after it pops it's head out of the earth. i would only start adding A+B at 1ml per litter when the first 3 bladed leaf appears. but both ways work, i have always been known for my minimal use of ferts, specially with my WW. but in the end most plants will accustom them selves to what you do within reason, lol.

I know this thread is two years old, but i am reviewing the oldies trying to find out why my seedlings are all dying. At first i thought i was overwatering, then i thought the 650 ppm's of the Canna Coco is too high. Now i have read this thread and think maybe they were hungry to start. It was actually yellowing that first appeared. I ended up flushing them when i think i should have maybe fed them. I think flushing them was a poor idea because they had such minimal roots in their tiny dixie cups, that they have stayed wet for the last four days!
SO DO SEEDLINGS IN COCO NEED TO BE FED A WEAK NUTRIENT SOLUTION? THANKS FOLKS! |
